Any opinions on this record?

I have it on vinyl and it sounds great, excellent SQ

I really like it

I have only heard this once so far (don't own it yet) but I surely would pick this up. I purchase most of my CDs second hand and this one has not yet turned out on the recent shelf of the store I visit regularly. I have read some reviews which said that this one is on par with Graceland. After one listening I am not sure about that. However, if you like Paul Simon generally this is quite safe bet and worth of try.

It's ok but no Graceland.  Some fairly corny lyrics in places and the CD sq is a bit variable IMHO.

Well I like it.

I think his wife has been producing better work for the last while.

I very much enjoy "So Beautiful or So What", foot-tapping, infectious rhythms and very decent songs.  I always feel a little bit better when I listen to it, and that in itself, makes it a keeper for me.

But, you have piqued my interest, Graeme.  I will check out her newest solo release and also the Gaddabouts.  Any other recommends ?

thanks

Edie Brickell, Volcano, Picture Perfect Morning and particularly Stranger Things.  The latter is amazingly well engineered if 'Buffalo Ghosts' doesn't bring a lump to your throat you are not human!

It's all good stuff in my view. G

Thanks, Graeme.  I am also looking forward to the Gaddabouts disc - Steve Gadd, Pino Palladino, Andy Fairweather Low and Edie Brickell.  Have you heard it ?

Graeme, Edie is also on two tracks of another Steve Gadd (deluxe edition only) release, Steve Gadd and Friends "Live at Voce".

Winky, sorry for the diversion from your original question, but good music begets good music.  I am excited to have discovered several recordings I would have missed or overlooked, all thanks to responses to your original queastion.

What are your thoughts on "So Beautiful or So What" ?

regards

A quick YouTube search shows it to be classy stuff indeed so it's on order.  Back to Paul Simon - I just don't think he can do protest songs with conviction.  Ry Cooder's 'Pull up Some Dust.........' is where it's at on that score.

All IMHO of course! G
