Unable to rename album

Posted by: Jejoma on 21 September 2011

Previously I have been able to rename albums on my Naim Unitiserve using the NDC but now when I try I get the error message "Hard disc player is currently busy. Please retry."

A previous topic cleared this by doing a CDLookUp but this does not work for me. Can anyone help please?

To reiterate many other users, the server software is far too protective of the database. This is particularly so when I find CDLookUp frequently gets the wrong album!

You can not rename an album or song that is in the current playlist, but it sounds like it is busy doing something in the background...if it doesn't resolve itself then maybe it is time to reboot it. You will be rebooting soon anyway, as soon as the 1.6 ver software update is available. ;-)

Cracked it!

For anyone else who has this problem, here's the solution:

What I was trying to do was split CDs that had two albums on one CD. I was doing this by recording once, deleting unwanted tracks and renaming to the first album and then repeating for the second.

I was doing this using the NDC. What I didn't realise was that if you delete from the Music Library tab you only delete from the Music Library menu list. YOU DO NOT DELETE THE ACTUAL FILE / FOLDER. To do this you have to empty the Recycle Bin from the Tools tab.

This meant that there were multiple copies of the files that I was trying to rename - hence the error message. Once I deleted the files properly by emptying the Recycle Bin I could then rename those I wanted to keep.

Pip pip!
