Album Art and the Desktop Client

Posted by: Bart on 25 September 2011

I couldn't find this covered here by searching . . .

I'm trying to fix missing album art, and it seems that I need to Desktop Client to fix the art, but to view all album art to actually identify what's missing or wrong, I need to use my iPad or iPhone.

Is there a convenient way to see album art in the Desktop Client so that I can see what needs to be fixed??

(The only way I can find to show the art is to actually "play" an album/disc.)

Right click on al album followed by "properties" shows amoungst others the cover art for that album. At the same time, you have the possibility to "upload cover art" to correct wrong covers of add missing cover art...

Yes to do that for each disc, when you don't remember which ones need cover art . . . is really painful.

With the iPad app, it's easy to see the art in the disc lists and pick out what's missing -- what needs to be edited, be it art, other info, etc.

Seems just another little inefficiency with the Desktop Client.

(This comes up because my uServe is new and I'm ripping big batches of cd's and not looking at the data with each rip.)

I'm afraid there's no other possibility with the DTC ...

Prior to getting the iPod, I used the web browser to identify missing cover art quite easily, and in a separate window used the DTC to update.

I am using an OSF software, buggy but free, called ''Album Cover Art Downloader''.

It scans your library and can display only albums with not cover art. You can then download cover arts with its help from Amazon US or UK and a couple of other sites, automatically. Save all covers in a specific folder giving the album name (or a short of it) as file name. Then with DTC you upload covers according to files name in the folder you have filled.

If you find an equivalent software working better, I am interrested...
