NDX iRadio / UPnP

Posted by: andrew mcmullins on 25 September 2011

I am trying to work out a problem.

I understand there is a problem with the current firmware version on the NDX that means FLAC files come up as not being able to play.

I have noticed that when I switch from iRadio to UPnP that I need to reboot the NDX to get it to play UPnP files again - it comes up with an error about can't play file type.  Doesn't happen all the time.

Has anyone noticed this - or is it a co-incidence?

Also - does anyone know when the firmware upgrade is coming to sort this FLAC problem out - rebooting the NDX ever few hours is "rather annoying"

Hi Andrew , getting the same problem here.
All but a few of my files are flac so it does start to grate after a few hours listening.

There must be a update dew soon!!!

Thanks Dingding

ALL my files are FLAC.  I was going to rip them all again to WMV but I couldnt work out how to dBPoweramp to add all the music tags into it - and then read its WMV incompatibility problems.

If I had spent that sort of money on a product that didn't work properly from anyone else - I would have been looking for a refund by now.

Andrew - temporary workaround until Naim fix the bug (which I think is in the streaming boards) is to remove embedded album art from the files. You should find the crashing stops or significantly reduces

Simon

As always - thank you very much - I'll give it a try.

First I've heard of a bug. FLAC files play perfectly on my NDX as does switching between iRadio and uPNP.

It should only affect files that have very large embedded artwork ... bring the embedded artwork filesize down to something sensible (say 500x500 pixels / a couple of hundred kilobytes maximum) and you should find you don't have the problem.

As Simon says, there is a fix that is rolled into the next code update for the Uniti product line.

Cheers
