UnitiQute Remote Question

Posted by: colinjay on 28 September 2011

I'm trying to see if I can get my UQ to work with my "programmable" remote. The remote came with my UVerse cable service and requites a four digit code. I have found that the UQ uses an RC5 System 13 code but cannot find any other equipment that uses this same code and they don't have Naim on the code list. All I really need is to be able to use the volume control up and down. Anyone who can help?

Thanks,

Colin

from a few posts above your one

SUPPORT If you have a specific problem that you wish to obtain support for from Naim then please contact either Steve Hopkins or Phil Harris on support@naimaudio.com or telephone 01722 426600 and we can make sure that we attend to your query as quickly and efficiently as possible...

Can I have an application form for the moderator's job?

Thank you for the advice, but I doubt Naim HQ knows much about getting their systems to work properly with a cheap quasi-programmable remote from an American cable company. I mask anyway on the off chance that they are aware of other electronics that also use System Code 13 that might work.

Thanks,

Colin

You can change the RC5 system codeā€“if you're located in the U.S., contact The Sound Organisation in Dallas; they can provide you with an RC5 code-change document for the Uniti family of products (I know it exists, as I wrote it).

More to the point, most "universal" code-based remotes do not identify the various Philips RC5 system codes and, as a consequence, it is a crap shoot no matter what the system code is, the manufacturer, etc. when it comes to RC5.

Thanks David, I appreciate the advice. I will send them and email and see if they can offer any help. I figured out (with the help of this forum) how to toggle the unit between System Code 13 and 21 but couldn't find any codes that triggered anything on the Qute either way.

I'm mainly just looking for an easy way to keep things simple for the wife and nanny and to keep the  "real" remote safe. I really like the iPad app, but need to be able to adjust the volume and mute without waiting for things to initialize. I may go the route of an inexpensive Logitech remote is I can't get this sorted easily.
