Asset Control

Anyone using Asset Control as their UPnP control point? Do you like it? I use Asset as my server, free version only at present but it's pretty good. So I think it's worth trying the control point. It's still in beta but it seems the dBpoweramp people are working on it again after a long hiatus. Thanks!

I use Asset Control on a netbook along with dBpoweramp Renaissance, a neat little command line initiated, digital music player which can give bit perfect replay under Windows 7, which is again free to download from the Spoon's Illustrate forum.

They work together very well and allow you to serve and play music from your NAS on your wifi connected PC and any other media renderer that is on your network. Very useful as part of a bedroom / portable streaming solution as well as as the control point for your main system if you desire.

The Asset Control interface is stable, simple, fast and has a nice 'Playing Now' view of Album artwork. I am looking forward to its arrival as an i-device app which Spoon is promising.

N,

I used the free version of Asset for a while on a Linux server under WINE - I thought it was very good, did what it said on the tin; and was very stable.

I used various control points to render the streams.

Ultimately I moved to a Naim NS01 for a combination of simplicity, usability and sound quality. But I think that the dbPowerAmp developer has done a great job, and I very nearly went a different route.

Have you looked at using the Linn control point?

OK, I've been trying out Asset Control with my Uniti. As you said GP, it is pretty fast and seems stable. Maybe the UI is a little too simple but it certainly works well. The only problem I'm having is that artwork hasn't always shown on the Now Playing screen. I have been using Mp3tag to embed covers, but maybe to fix this I need to redo with dBpoweramp? I might try the Linn Control point soon. Thanks!

I have lost the connection to my Uniti in Asset Control. It no longer shows in on the Zone screen. How can I restore it? Thanks!

I’m guessing that the Unity is not showing in My Network Places either, if so rebooting is probably the easiest way to restore your connection.

Yes, it's not in My Network Places but I can still stream via Asset server and use the Uniti screen and remote. That's why I thought the problem was Control specific Thanks!

I have spoken to the Asset people about the problems I been having with Asset Control and they say, the problem is with the Uniti to PC connection and Naim should think about why the renderer is having problems staying around. I had, by the way, a same problem with Foobar as a control point. I have emailed Naim but does anyone here have similar problems or ideas, please?

Thanks very much!
