Karma/ARO trouble

Posted by: Phil Barry on 01 September 2000

I just got a Karma (cartridge) because it was priced right, and because I'm curious about MC carts.

In deinstalling my Grado Sonata, I checked out the fit of the ARO's connectors with the Karma's pins. Imagine my shock and surprise when I discovered that the pins are way narrower than the connectors.

I'd hate to squeeze the connectors down and then need to reinstall the Grado, or any other cart with big pins.

What do people do about this?

Thanks, Vuk. I figured I get a response from you or Petrik. I've gotten sound out the Karma, and I'm really torn - I like it a lot, even with a loose jury- or jerry- rigged system, but I hesitate to do the deed. I would hate to have to solder on new clips because I haven't been gentle enough.

Hi Philb:

The usual way to reduce the connector 'diameter' is to put a tooth pick (or something similar) inside the connector then gently squeeze with tweezers.
