Hendrix

After listening to Stages a couple of days ago, I decided to open up Essential JH, for the first time in a while. The recording quality on the Essential disc are not great, but the brilliance of the artist still shone through.

Is there any Hendrix fan out there that can suggest a more recent release, or compelation that takes advantage of current technology without bastardizing the music?

I dicided to pick up the new Hendrix Box set with a variety of live and unreleased tracks. The recordings are much better than the Essential disc. In fact most of them are outstanding. The box set also comes as a series of 4 LPs.

My initial comment regarding bastardization pertained to the remasters on the new Beatles comp., which as I interpreted it, was not as good as some had expected. Overly digitized perhaps.

Thanks to Naim for allowing me the opportunity to experience Hendrix in this manner. Like so many other discs that I have owned for some time, old is new again; and somehow better... tw
