Remote Control Problem with NAC82

Posted by: Adrian F. on 20 October 2000

Hi everyone!

Music sounds good as usual, but the balance does not react on remote signals.
Everything else works remotely (volume, mute, mono, inputs).

I switched the Super-Cap off and plugged the NAPSC out for about 15 minutes to do a "full reset", but nothing changed...

Is there anything inside, that I can check/fix myself, before rushing out for service (something like a loose cable plug to the balance motor).

Thanks for your ideas!

but no. (it would have been the cheapest failiure)
I've got 3 remotes:

one from NAC82
one from CDSII
one programmable/learning type

with every remote, every other function but this da.. balance works!

My dealer suspected a pushed in balance button, which makes contact to the front-plate of the 82 with too much resistance for the motor to turn - but it's not the case.

I can hear the motor of the volume button when remote controlled, but the balance motor keeps quiet. Soooo:

1. the signal does not get from the IR receiver to the balance motor
2. this is a late motor, it's gone to see its maker, this motor is no more,...

...and now to something completely different!

What's the S/N range of your 82, out of interest? (eg 137xxx)

Hi Rico

Ooops, I'm in the office right now and don't know it by heart - but it's about 8 years old.

No other problems in all this time and all those power supplys.
