Leaving Naim on all the time ...

Will leaving the Naims on all the time increase my electricity bill a lot ?

Joseph,

I've been trying to find this out too. Looked into all the manuals but i can't find anything that states the power consumption of the equipment. I would attribute around S$50 to the naims. If you've noticed, the electricity tariff just went up last month.

Hi, Laxton, yes I noticed ! My bill now is S$ 460, almost double that of my last month's. Last month was when my Naims came in, so I'm trying to figure out if its the Naims (I leave them on the whole time) ...

Hi all,

I did some tests a while ago, on my modest system.

The cost of leaving my Nait3 on all the time was more than I thought, but not enough to worry me.

It was a LOT less than leaving a PC on constantly.

I tested a Nait3 and the cost was under 1 unit per day.

My colleague has an Exposure pre-power, and with both units permanently powered, and a Naim CD3 it cost about 1 unit per day (£25 / year @ 7p / unit).

The PC (excluding monitor) was over 2 units per day!

If you live in the UK Maplin sell a 'cost plug' that looks like a mains timer that will enable you to monitor your system - it totally ruins sound quality though, so remove before listening.

Andy.
