CD's in the Microwave

Posted by: NAIM-Collector on 27 September 2000

Has anybody tried the sound and light show that is offered by putting a unwanted CD in the microwave, settings for about 3 seconds.

It's a bit of a hoot, by the way the CD is definitly converted to a frisbee.

By all accounts you will also have to use an unwanted microwave to do this.

Cool idea though....

BTW, don't try this with recordable CDs (CD-R, CD-RW) - there are reports that this process releases toxic chemicals from them.

cheers, Martin

The other party trick is to take a conventional incandescant light bulb.

Place in a glass, filled with enough water to cover the metal cap.

Activate microwave and watch it light up your life.

It evens works with blown lightbulbs!

...any dangerous side-effects to this?

Keep in mind I'm the guy who lights yo-yo strings on fire...
