Got my DVD5, I'll do a lot of tests

Posted by: karyboue on 19 March 2005

I just picked up my new DVD5 from my dealer.

Out of the box, on my system I know by heart AV2/NAP 200/V 175/NACA 5 + Floating Cameleon speakers (no one knows :-( ) and using a standard Naim interconnect.
After 2 minutes of music, I would say that it is undoubtly better than a CD5, especially with the high frequencies that are more material and precise, it makes real music.
Let's make it warm.

I plug it on video (TV Sony KV32 FD1 on a DB15 input "Hi-Def" RGBHV) and a Chord Coaxial Digital Signature. Using NTSC DVD at first : DTS movie, I have no subwoofer but five big speakers (tall ? I don't know how it's called in english).
I can't trully tell about the image because I have to change the image settings and I'll only have my "big" BNC -> VGA cable by tuesday. But with the sound, this is hell ! The first thing we can hear is refinement, sound flows, that is astonishing. I have a true "feeling" of space like I never had before, that is crazy, the sound space behind the screen is fantastic. Everything sounds so much "heavier".

I'll tell you more later during the week-end because I have to go.
