Streamed audio advice requested

Posted by: HansW on 13 December 2008

Hi,

I have just started using a audio streaming service called Spotify. It provides direct access to a load of music but downloading is not possible. It works out of the PC-speakers.

My question, as a computer music novice, is how best I can distribute this to a small kitchen system and to my main hi-fi.

How would I stream it to a Supernait or Nait ion the kitchen? Are the Naimnet amps an option? Is there a less expensive or hardware intensive option?

I would be surprised if the software allows digital streaming to other devices over S/PDIF as this would allow the tracks to be recorded with no loss of quality. I can't see any details on their web site about copy protection, but the end user agreement implies there is some.

You could distribute the analogue out from the PC sound card, but this could introduce distortion if you have long cable runs.

Thanks for the help.

The information on the site doesn't help much but distribution to a hi-fi system should be possible.

Is analog distribution feasible.
