'Hordes Of The Things'

Posted by: J.N. on 14 December 2003

This is a radio programme that went out on Radio 4 about 20 years ago, and I've tried without success to get it repeated.

It was billed as an 'Epic Fantasy' being largely a 'Lord Of The Rings' comedy spoof.

An eagle eyed buddy has spotted that it's being broadcast on digital radio BBC 7 starting at 12.30 (mid-day) on Saturday 20th December.

It looks like the four, 30 minute episodes will go out over four Saturdays.

It is bloody hilarious. Check it out.

BBC 7 - Sky 881 - Freeview 78.

Enjoy.

Thanks Tom.

Nice to know that someone else has memories of this gem. It is however Frank Middlemass who plays the wizard 'Radox The Green'.

Other contributors include:-

Paul Eddington, Aubrey Woods, Simon Callow, Patrick McGee, Maggie Steed and Ballard Berkley.

The writers are credited as A.P.R. Marshall and J.H.W. Lloyd (that John Lloyd?)

The clue is the title of the thread.

Anyone catch it?

Patrick McGee's opening speech was cut for some reason. It rather sets the scene, so it's a bit of a shame.

Yes; I've just spotted that and was coming back in to post the repeat time.

I got a good recording onto my normal stereo VHS machine via the TV digi-box.

The sound quality is pretty good for 22 years old.

Most BBC Radio programmes from the previous week are available to listen to at anytime via www.bbc.co.uk/radio - unfortunately not 'Hordes of the Things' why is that?
