Can I use Narcom remote for a Marantz dvd-player?

I'm considering buying a used Marantz DV6500 DVD/SACD player and connect it to an external Parasound Z-DAC and use it as a CD player.

But the Marantz has no remote control. I had a Marantz integrated amp before buying my Naim kit (200 and 202), and I could adjust the volume on the Marantz with the Narcom remote, but I didn't try anything else.

So, do you know if I can use the Narcom for the Marantz player? I want to be able to program it and skip songs, etc.

Alternatively, I have considered buying one of those cheap multi-functional remotes and use that, but as I don't have the remote for the Marantz I don't know if I need that one for programming the multi-functional one.
