Can't Turn On My Panasonic HDD/DVD Recorder

Help! My Panasonic HDD/DVD recorder won't turn on - either from the remote or from the buttons on the unit. This has happened before and was solved by pulling the power cord out and re-booting completely. It was okay for a while and has now lapsed into the same issue.

Has anyone any idea of what the problem is and if there's a solution?

Quick update in case anyone else searches with a related problem.

i registered on AVforums as suggested and did a bit of digging before posting my query. A post suggested that when doing a hard re-boot (by pulling out the power socket) said to leave it out for more than 15 to do it properly. I've done this and so far it's behaving.
