Feedback on the nVi

Posted by: Consciousmess on 01 July 2016

I enjoy using the nVi, but when I set the 252 to AV, a high pitched feedback noise comes from the speakers.  It's in the background and sound masks it, but when muted, it's there.

Now I suspect it might be because I connect my Sky HD to it via a 3m coaxial lead; I come to this hypothesis from another thread I started enquiring about 'optical only going to 96kHz and not playing 192kHz'.  So in short what I'm getting at is if I use an optical connection instead, the 'feedback' will go (which is a problem with coaxial and TVs/Sky).

Is this the right idea?

From what you describe then optical TOSLINK connection may well cure the problem. It's cheap to find out so I reckon its worth a go.

That's odd - Sky HD boxes only have optical digital, not co-ax, outputs.

Not all of them... The later ones had Co-ax as well as Optical.

Thanks for the correction Eloise. I recently changed my trusty old HD box because it was getting a bit cranky. I've just had a look at the new one and, by golly, you're right! That's quite handy for me actually.
