HDCP 2.2 Help!!!

HDCP 2.2

I plan to buy a new 4K TV and wish to add a soundbar.

Most of the current soundbars aren’t HDCP 2.2 compliant or if they are they only have one HDMI 2.2 socket, not that that means a great deal to me and I’ve received conflicting advice from several shops.

If I only have non 2.2 HDMI sockets on the soundbar what happens?

My new TV will receive 4K pictures but will only pass through standard sound(whatever that is?) via the HDMI socket to the sound bar?

It looks as if I should route all devices (DVD player etc) into the TV and then one HDMI connection to the soundbar, does this make sense?

Any advice in layman’s terms would be most appreciated.

Many thanks.

Chris

We found it better to route all video-related audio through the TV, so just one connection to the soundbar, yes. It just makes synchronization much less an issue.

Can't help with the HDCP2.2 fiasco except to say I was under the impression that is was focused on restricting video (specifically 4K), not audio. You may also have the option of an optical connection to the soundbar, rather than HDMI?

Thanks Winky, if I ever get a definitive answer on the HDCP 2.2 issue I'll let you know!
