R.I.P Mark E Smith

It has just been confirmed that Mark E Smith had passed away. Mark was legend of indie music of the 70,s onwards and notoriously hard to get along with, he will be sadly missed

That's shocking news. I remember the first I heard The Fall and Spoilt Victorian child.

First saw them live at the Heaven club around ‘83-84, supported by Swans. He was amazing.

I’ve been following The Fall since the 10” LP Slates from about 1981.  That is a work of genius, as is nearly everything else they (he) did.

RIP MES and thank you.

Saw The Fall more times than I can remember. Mighty. Irreplaceable. As curmudgeonly as it was possible to be.

Some reminders of his genius (or a starter kit for those not yet acquainted):

Blindness

Fall Sound

We Are Sparta FC

Touch Sensitive

Paintwork

CREEP

It’s A Curse

Edinburgh Man

(Jung Nev’s) Antidotes

There’s A Ghost In My House

Cyber Insekt

Free Range

Jeremy Vine playing 'totally wired' on his show ...right now.

Sounds great...I used to have the single in the eighties.

Can't think of anybody remotely similar to Mark E Smith. He was unique. The Fall were John Peel' s favourite band.
