Charity Shop - Greatest Finds

Posted by: TK421 on 14 April 2018

My local town has in excess of ten charity shops all full of stuff someone no longer needs/wants.

However, as we know one mans rubbish is another's treasure.

Whilst volunteering at Age UK in between employment I did purchase a near mint vinyl copy of a Housemartins LP for a £1.00. I did refuse my staff discount.

What is your best music/video purchase from a charity/thrift shop?

Sourced from Cheltenham's charity music/book shops within the previous six months:

• Mister Heartbreak - Laurie Anderson

• Saggitarian Domain - Oren Ambarchi

• Helplessness Blues - Fleet Foxes

• Ekstasis - Julia Holter

 • Vienna Concert - Keith Jarrett

• Space is only noise - Nicolas Jaar

• Best of Scott Walker and The Walker Brothers
(is there a better example of orchestral arrangement for a pop song than the sublime "No Regrets" - discuss using one side of A4?)

Total cost - approx £15

From a charity shop that popped up in our village long before the phrase pop-up shop emerged, a mono copy of “The Who Sell Out” with poster, 30p.
