Apparently the Two Russians visiting Salisbury  we’re sightseeing ????

Umm.... the TV footage of the two tourists wasn’t very convincing...

Shame they didn't take in Stone Henge whilst they visited Salisbury seems like a missed opportunity given they were so close.

If only they'd said they were visiting the wonderful Naim Audio factory we'd of believed them

Foreign Secretary  Jereramy Hunt comment ‘The last time the Russian military claimed they were on holiday they invaded Ukraine in 2014’ .....

Come all the way to the UK, just to spend one day in Salisbury, just to visit the cathedral (oh! and bring a disguised bottle of a nerve agent along just for the fun of it!).  Yes very credible story: why wouldn't you do that - perfectly normal behaviour.

I wonder how many people from the UK travel through Moscow without stopping to see anything of the city, take the train direct to St Peterburg, just to visit the Hermitage for a few hours, then return straight back to the UK.

Allegedly, traces of Novichok were found in their London hotel room ............. allegedly.

But the rest of their story doesn't hold water.
So if the reason for their visit it wasn't to deliver the nerve agent, what was the REAL reason for their odd behaviour?

Yes, the "explanations" given during their interview seem dubious, to say the least, but the reported finding of traces of the nerve agent in their hotel room, if true, would appear to be something of a clincher.

I thought they looked just like the sort of chaps who would travel all the way from Moscow to look at a Cathedral before returning the same day.

Otherwise they would just be two Russian government hired kilkers disguised as two Russian government hired killers which if true actually might be the most ill conceived double bluff ever.

The perfect plot for a TV thriller.....

It’s just Russia having their fun and taking the piss again.

Whether Salisbury, Crimea, shooting down Malaysian airliners, institutionalised cheating in sport, international money laundering and other crimes on an ever larger scale, they don’t care what you think.

Russia runs on denial and confusion to protect the power. They have no reason not to do the things they do.

They don’t care. They don’t care that we know they don’t care.

But it does serve well to reinforce their message to not fk about with them because they can’t be held accountable and they have nothing to lose. Hence the interview with their tourists.

What are we going to do, drop our Beluga imports?

Curiously, that's not too dissimilar to the USA under Trump.

An interesting take.

Posted on: 14 September 2018 by MDS

I get the argument that Putin and his lot might want to send a blunt signal to potentially dissenting and defecting Russians "we can reach you anywhere" but, if they are responsible for this Salisbury attack, they are also sending a pretty clear message 'we're not very good at what we do'. The 'targets' didn't die, and some innocent did die because we disposed of the partially used nerve agent in a bin in a public place not far from the scene'. Is that the level of competence to be expected of a top-ranking secret service?   What would George Smiley say?
