Podcasts?

What's the difference between a podcast and a radio programme? Aren't they really the same thing? I've listened to a couple and I can't see any difference between them and a recorded radio show.

Maybe it's just me...

Podcasts can be downloadable radio programmes, equally they can be any audio file made by everyone from enthusiastic amateurs to the BBC. Podcast to me is a catch-all term for downloaded audio that's primarily spoken as opposed to music. You're not limited to what the BBC provide; lots of 'entertainers' make their own podcasts outside of the broadcast industry.

BBC podcasts are often extended versions of the broadcast equivalent.
