Does anyone know please, if it is legal to record a tidal stream to Flac for one's own use?

I think its in the technicality of braking the encryption, which is the illegal bit.

In the UK it's the copying that's illegal, whether or not breaking the encryption is or not. Your licence (see the T&Cs at Tidal) is to play it only as streamed.

You're not allowed to use  format shift as a reason anymore.

On mobile devices, you can download music within the Tidal app for offline use, and it is usable as long as your subscription is active. You can then use Chromecast, Airplay or Bluetooth to stream to other devices such as a Naim streamer.
