New record pressing plant in UK

Posted by: Japtimscarlet on 19 December 2018

Just seen a report that a new record pressing plant is to open in Liverpool

It's planned for 2020 and will be inside the The Jacaranda music venue

Cannot imagine it will be on any scale ...but if quality is good that is good news to us vinyl heads ( and has got to be better than those awful back to black efforts surely? )

There are more pressing plants opening at the moment than coffee shops. Being a very specific market and requiring expertise and  "shadowing"- I love that expression - it is  sod's law on how these pressings are going to turn up.

This is a very interesting article on three pressing plants and how they deal with short comings of recruiting experienced and training new staff.

As in the above link and this one from 'A new record pressing plant is opening in Liverpool', I see that Marigold gloves play a large part in the process.

Oh come on, as long as its a 180-g pressing the LP will sound fantastic.

Did not realise so many new plants were springing up Tony

Though there must be a considerable investment in new plant to do this ...but maybe not?

It would be better I suppose if more recording studios sent their masters to one big specialist record presser who did a good job of the quality control...then we could see more current albums appear as quality vinyl pressings.
