Innuos roon Naim streamer

Posted by: T38.45 on 26 December 2018

I just saw this for roon running on top of Innuos- does one know if this works with Naim streaming gear as well? I‘m ok with point 1-9 but 10? It should be a big jump SQ wise...

  1. Disclaimer - this is an experimental feature which may have occasional dropouts. It uses the Squeezebox integration within Roon which supports only audio up to 24bit/192 and DSD64. Quarantine and Import will be disabled as they require the internal LMS to be active and that would conflict with this feature on Roon.
  2. Go to Settings > Choose Server Integration
  3. Activate the Roon switch then select the option "Use Roon Core with Squeezelite Player (Experimental)"
  4. Click the Apply Changes button
  5. Launch the Roon App
  6. Go to Settings > Setup
  7. Activate the switch for "Enable Squeezebox Support"
  8. Go to Setting > Audio
  9. Disable any players shown under "Connected to Core"
  10. Enable the Squeezelite player under Squeezebox.

Wish you all a great christmas holiday and tons of great music!

This is more or less the workaround that UPnP bridge uses . You can safely do all the steps above, none are in any way irreversible.

I guess another option with the new Zen Mini would be to use the SPDIF connection direct rather than running it over the network.

This is not a bridge of any kind its a server/streamer on its own so would feed into your NAIM dac or preamp via USB, optical or coaxial its not a upnp network bridge. Innuous have two ways that their unit can be added to the  Roon eco, system. Normally it uses Roon Bridge software which most  things do but this is Squeezebox emulation,  a new feature that runs Squeezelite software player in RAM on the unit allowing playback from purely from RAM as the they believe ram playback improves SQ than standard playback. Roon does not actually support this feature as they dont support Squeezelite players in Roon only the hardware player. They do work but you use them at your own risk and with alleged improvements.

MANY thanks! So I'll just wait for official support then...I love roon as it is now:-)
