My father's 1978 Rega Planar 2 with duff arm. No Naim content at all but audio joy nonetheless

My Dad's 1978 Rega Planar 2 (wood surround, R200 S-shaped arm) was only giving sound on one channel. The bias had long since failed.

A trade-in of the arm against an Audio Origami RB202 was decided upon. Today I fitted it. I'm not that handy so it was a bit of a struggle but eventually the three mounting holes were drilled through the melamine in the right place. The twenty year old stylus for the AT95e was also replaced.

Sounds great. Much as I might like to see a Rega wallshelf and a white belt, it ain't going to happen. But my father is pleased too and will be able to play his Huddersfield Messiah and a few others, again.

Maybe your old Rega needs some TLC too....so I pass this on.

Very nice Chris. I’m sure your Dad will love it. A shame that the R200 bias belt can’t be easily fixed. It’s still a nice arm when re-wired, but the bias is tricky and costly, so doesn’t make much economic sense.

What a great little project.
