Concerts planned for 2018.

I couldn't find a current thread for this, so, thought I'd start a new one, mainly 'cos it's a good way of bringing to folk's attention, tours

which they might otherwise have missed.

So, Eric Bibb is kicking off a short UK tour in April, and I've captured tickets for an intimate local gig ............ woohoo!

Most of my 2018 bookings so far fall into the 'Nostalgia' category for me:

May - Mary Chapin Carpenter

June - Jeff Beck; Roger Waters

July - James Taylor; Bonnie Raitt; Paul Simon

Oct - Steve Hackett

Dec - The Australian Pink Floyd

Very disappointed I wasn't able to book the Handsome Family concert in Edinburgh this weekend because of other commitments. I have quite a few of their albums and it would have been really interesting to see them live.

Without wising to 'rub your nose in it', I was lucky enough to see The Handsome Family 2 nights ago in Cardiff.

I must say they were excellent, very tight and to my surprise sounded more upbeat than when playing their songs at home.

My mate was very disappointed when the gig finished he said he could have listened to them for a few more hours and that it was the best gig he had been to for quite some time. he attends lots of gigs.

Anyway, enjoy those that you are attending.

ATB,

Mike.

Runrig final concert in Aug at Stirling

We've already seen Robert Plant and The Killers.  In a couple of days Franz Ferdinand.  To come, Aretha Franklin, The Decemberists, John Prine, Cake.

Probably will skip David Byrne as I'm not so sure what he's doing is all that interesting, despite his iconic status (I've seen him, as well as Talking Heads).

Oh and Beck this summer as well!

For my parental sins, I am taking my two fervent K-pop devotees to see Monsta X at Hammersmith Apollo in June.

(This, apparently, does not in any way affect the absolute, unarguable requirement to purchase tickets for BTS at The O2 in October...)

Nick, how do you cope with this (K-pop) madness at home? Just hoping to fade away one day (the sooner the better) in my case :-(

I hear you - I try and restrict it to car journeys...!

Just booked tickets for Les Négresses Vertes at O2 Academy Islington in September. Should be interesting. If you’ve never heard their ‘Zobi La Mouche’ you should drop everything and listen to it now. And often.
