I ask the question of those who knew him - what was his sense of humour like? From the previous advertisements for Naim products, it would appear that he had a very dry sense of humour!

One of the tricky things about the English language is that context is everything. So "a bunch of lads" in that context just means some young men who got together to make something good happen. But "a bit of a lad" for example suggests someone who has, let us say, wider and not necessarily to be welcomed, interests!
