Second power supply to ND555

Posted by: m.paul taylor on 27 December 2018

I have recently upgraded cabling to Super Lumina (ND555 to NAC  552) and speaker cables. Rest is 300 DR. THE ND 555 is currently powered by 555DR. Amp is 300DR. Speakers are Kudos 606 which are as big as the room will take. The new cabling has made a significant improvement. Is an addition of a second power supply to the ND555 going to make any further significant improvement ? If so, what level?

Blimey, I want one of those 500DRs with a jet pack!

I much prefer the 500 to the 300, but didn’t find the second PS on the ND555 a mere nuanced change. I found it a good step up for bass timing and detail, cohesion and general micro dynamics

Trust your ears. I use two 555PS-DR with my ND555. It works just fine with one. It sounds better with two. But that's only according to my ears.

I use ND555 with 2 PS555DR, It sounds better than one PS555, But just one PS, ND555 sounds very good already. I think you will get more with300DR to 500DR.

To my ear, second PS 555 gives more focus, darker background and better image. 500DR gives better dynamic response.

I use Wilson Audio speakers, paired with 500DR gives much better control on my speaker.  I would go for 500DR before a second PS555. Unless you can find pre-loved PS555 with good price.
