Charlotte Gainsbourg, IRM:

Co-written and produced by Beck (who duets on the first single, Heaven Can Wait) there's a free download of the title track at her website.

Out next week in France, Switzerland, Belgium, Canada, Holland, and Germany (and everywhere else, end of January). Might have to order it from amazon.fr

I have wanted this on vinyl for so long it hurts.

I was lucky enough to see them tour this at Giants Stadium when working/living in Manhatten for 6 months in '89. One of my stand out concerts (as was the gig at Wembley Arena last year) amongst many. A couple of months later I met the future Mrs markah out there when she was on holiday. What a year that was!

I'm going to start a thread if my Heart Of My Own is late; after all I ordered it first; I've ordered the vinyl and CD just for safety - well it is Basia Bulat.

Am still waiting for news back from Martha Johnson on how I can order the new Martha and the Muffins elpee - no sign of it in the Amazon. I think it'll be CD only though.

Next month.

I'll remain open minded to trying this one but I have to say I cannot get excited about her first album. Maybe I'll dig it out later and try again to see if I can get to like it.

This has been put back to 25th January now, when most of her UK tour is over. What's all that about? Frown

So she can sell them at the gigs and make more dosh.

The date I quoted was US release. FYI, the price at US gigs was 10.00 US, very reasonable, but, yes, she probably gets a bigger portion after cost than sales through retail outlets.

New Vampire Weekend 'Contra' is due mid-Jan.

I think I can probably cope with one more as infectious as the first.

Nice sample.

Bruce

(oh and just in case you missed the forlornly ignored Midlake thread-new album from them end Jan).

The new Natalie Merchant album called "Leave Your Sleep" due out in the spring on Nonesuch.

Got tickets to see Natalie in Glasgow in Janaury. She is playing with the Irish folk group Lunasa.

She is going to tour the new album as well. Heard her play a load of tracks from it in London the other week. She could remember all the words to these new folky tunes, but her hits she could not.
