in anticipation of Fraim just ordered...

OK, I got a set of these things from Lakeland as discussed and have been dusting away merrily since getting home! They are called Flatmate dusters and it's like they were designed by Naim Audio since they fit perfectly between the wooden shelves and the glass as well as between most components and the glass. They don't, however, fit under a Klimax Radikal box. The yellow one reaches easily to the back of the third leg on the Fraim and even reveals what the spiders have been up to under my NBLs. Recommended.

The dusters come in a packet of 2, the larger one is for cleaning under white goods.

Maybe you could gift the larger one to your wife.

Well perhaps not......

Here you go. Bought mine from Lakeland. I use the blue one for my system, Works a treat for getting under the boxes.

I ordered a standard height shelf a few days before you and have a quoted date of the 31st of Jan.

Another update - the promised delivery date (yesterday) has come and gone - and i suspect Yetis42's comment above jinx'ed my order. Got a mail from the distributor late yesterday that my order was postponed to "beginning of February" the reason being that the wood ordered for my order (and others) failed quality control and had to be scrapped altogether - so back to the beginning of the Que...

well - more time to anticipate i suppose...

Similar happened when I first ordered Fraim (Lite) except the uprights were rejected by Naim, it was quite some time before I took delivery. Better than the alternative though.

I'm still waiting for my Core too, 2 months 8 days and counting, I've even seen a pile of them in the factory.

Any more news on delivery yet?

...unfortunately not - not sure if Yeti42 got his yet - was planning to reach out to my dealer today (as it is - technically - "the beginning of February") but i just did not get round to it...

Will update as soon as i know more...

Back to dusters . . . we use something like that too.  My first instinct was the vacuum cleaner, but really a duster works much much better.

Still have all my ball bearings, but the little sticky Naim logo has been damaged.  I need to write to see if I can get one of those.

The Fraim has finaly arrived - what a quality product - pictures just doesn't do it justice...

a fun build actually - and a temporary one, as my dealer/distributor missed the fraim chips/cups for the base level on my order.

Sonically we are looking at a tighter and 3d-like soundstage, maybe more refined lows /bass

Just had 2 hours listening time, so will update later when i have a more thorough listening session. right now NDX is on top - will try to switch it with the 282 at some point

here is the initial setup (including some of my Lego SW builds;-):

Congratulations.  great set up, and pleased to hear that your initial conclusions are very positive, I'm also contemplating a naim fraim, so very interested in your feedback..... is the outlay worth the improvements?  Please keep us posted ...

Ditto

Looks fantastic. Love the green speakers.

@Wunderbaum nice setup, and I like the lego!! Yes the bass does get nice and solid, but so does everything... you will the sounds more easily leave the speakers. I have found sources seem to benefit most from Fraim..enjoy... it's not a cheap, but definitely worthwhile .. just over time you should check the the Fraim shelf feet remained centred in their cups and not touching the sides of the cups... you will probably notice if it does happen as the performance of the stands drops off.  at least it does for mine..

Just wondering if that is the final resting place ? All agree that the Fraim should be at the side at some distance away from the speaker stage.

well for the foreseable future this is the setup - i might locate the fraim  a little further back (i plan to dismantle the stack fully and rebuild once i get the fraim cups missed on the initial order) - my speakercables are only 2,15 meters so not much room to move them to the side - but if someone throws 6 meter SL my way, well....:-)

Colour coordination -- are the green speakers thought to match the Naim logo?

well - they were bought pre-loved for a significantly lower price than comparable white/black versions - so the colour coordination is an added benefit, more than a conscious choice

Hi Wunderbaum,  congratulations on the Fraim,  it looks good & expect it does something especially good for the sound.   To me the only thing spoiling the looks is that rats nest of cables behind.    Cables to me are something I cannot accept & I insist on a cable free view.     ( notice I did not say anything about the green things     )

Perhaps if the system was over to the left of the left speaker. I don't like looking at a stack of boxes, it's too much like a shrine. Anyway, enough of this, I'm sure it sounds lovely. After six months take it all apart and tighten up the Fraim as the legs will have gone floppy. After another six months do it again. After than an annual check should suffice.

Sure HH - i quite like the symmetricity of the setup as it is – but would be happy to try the “on the side” setup if – as I mentioned in a previous post – someone throws a pair of 6m SL speaker cables my way;-) – or 6 meters of the Audiovector cable I use now – roughly the same price…(well – AV cables slightly cheaper than SL)

I am still contemplating whether to change the system layout for when my Fraim is installed  - might need a new sofa though

Is it still comfortable? Still fit for purpose? You could buy a lot of records for the price of a new sofa!

If it were mine, I would re set it to get the speakers out of the corners of the room, away from the back wall,  and have the Fraim to the side so that it is not between the speakers.   But I am no expert.

The Fraim is a huge upgrade to what you (and all of us) had before.

You don't have to realize all of its potential at one time.  But I can see set up improvements in your future.

thank you all for your comments and suggestions - surely the most dominant one being the system placed between the speakers - but as SKIP mentions, i quite like the notion that this is a journey of improvements (as my system has been) and for now, this is how the system is going to live;-)

To answer the Questions regarding improvements, i now have about 10 hours of listening with the current layout and i can say that i have definite improvements - most noticeable around image and separation of instruments - there is a very clear and defined 3d soundstage, with instruments and musicians well placed on the stage - that also translates to more defined frequencies, as individual instruments are allowed more "space" in the music.

And i have to say - as mentioned before - it looks SOO good;-) - i found myself going into my home office (were the system is placed) quite a few times during the weekend just to look at the damned thing!!!

in regards to value for money it would rank it as a black box upgrade (at least), but of course it depends on a lot of variables (system, previous rack etc) but i dont regret the purchase one moment - actually the Fraim is right now the only element in my system bought new - all else is preloved...
