ELP's Trilogy was the first "grown-up" album introduced to me by an older cousin and "From the beginning" in particular always finds it way on to my playlists. Great band, great musician, great recorded legacy - thanks Greg.

I love Nilsson. I"ve tried to collect all his albums through the years though I've avoided the Popeye soundtrack. I was so psyched back when the film first came out. I went to the first showing on the first day of release and was so disappointed by the whole affair. My main excitement was to hear the new Nilsson songs and I was underwhelmed. I've read somewhere he was going to record the songs himself to prove that the studio messed up his songs. I've heard his demos and I don't think they...

Doesn't have to be contemporary. After the lovely year this has been. Some memorable melodies to stick reminding us all that it's all just fun and games. https://g.co/kgs/rJcSIz

I took Aja from the shelf to play it, and I saw something I had never noticed before: is it just my copy? All the small printings seem ok.. A cheap clone? A perennial misprint?

This is my first Naim system and my first time any forum period, so please excuse my choice of question as i guess its been asked many times. As its 2nd hand does it still need to be burned in? I am thinking of going straight for the big big jump adding and a 555dr ps as i think it needs a little something, thats not taking away the fact that it allready sounds good i'm just greedy. Any ideas as to wheather its the best idea? I am one month in and eager. Regarding speakers i know the proof...

I'm still listening to the late greats Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, John Martyn and my favourite Michael Hedges. But last week I took a trip along the coast to the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill-on-Sea to see the amazing Steve Gunn. Steve Gunn along with Ryley Walker and William Tyler are just three of the amazing talents on acoustic guitar around at the moment. Here's a clip of Steve https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdWu0Gyzv38 It's heart warming and gives me faith in my future enjoyment of...

Sharon Jones, American soul singer who found recent success with the Dap Kings, has passed on. Another sad loss. RIP.

Here is an interesting thing. Lambchop (the former country band) embrace electronics and vocoder sounds in a sort of lounge meets Four Tet/James Blake mash up and produce....something rather wonderful I think. It is intriguing and rich, despite the electronics very warm and subtle. Although sonically different reminds me of 'Is A Woman' in terms of being quite dense, bit strange and very much a complete suite of songs rather than a collection of individual tracks. The 18 min closing track...

And now Leon at age 74. Part of the Wrecking Crew and writer of 'This Masquerade'. 'Stranger In A Strange Land' was a favourite of mine. RIP Leon.

I had the pleasure of watching UFO in concert in Middlesbrough last night. Not a band I have watched before but one I'll watch again if I get the chance because they were superb. WIth a lead singer who is all of 68 they are seasoned professionals but they totally rocked, didn't put a foot wrong all night and had one of the best lead guitarists I've ever seen. Well recommended. Worth pointing out too that the sound in the Empire there was superb.

I don't know how many have seen this article in discogs from an interview with Harm Theunisse of Symcon where claims are made of a newer, more efficient way to produce vinyl that, he claims, improves upon the sound quality of pressed albums. https://blog.discogs.com/en/in...;utm_medium=facebook

I am wanting to download a hi-res version of Bill Evans - Waltz for Debby. The remastered version from HDTracks gets good reviews. However, it is unavailable to download in the U.K. I have found the HDTracks version on the download site - mqs.links, which appears to then require downloading through filejoker.net. Has anybody any experience of this site - is it legit./legal/trustworthy and safe? Many thanks

Richard, please let me know if this infringes any forum rules... It's not often that we want to stop hearing the music, of course, but the gig-goers amongst us who are worried about our hearing may be interested in a product that I have just bought, namely Flare Audio Ltd's "Isolate" range of ear protectors. They are designed for repeat use a with removable earfoam tips of different sizes; the body is metal - I bought the titanium version. When fitted correctly, they are designed to allow...

I have just completed a 3 day, 2,170 mile drive from Nova Scotia to north Florida on mostly Interstate type roads (Motorways) with speeds averaging around 80MPH .. My long haul music used to be ZZ Top and/or The Stones but I found a new favorite on this trip .. especially during the nighttime hours .. Joe Bonamassa: Blues of Desperation. Something about the music and the colors of the instrument binnacle and the navigation combined to make a magical aura in the cabin. A cocoon of stimuli ..

We live in a world where streaming has opened up an avalanche of music available at a few clicks, how do you decide what to listen to? In my case there are a few sources that I use: 1. Audiostream.com publish articles with peoples recommended recordings; 2. Threads in this forum; 3. Reviews where the reviewer lists what they use an what they hear, Chris on Computer Audiophile & Tone Audio for instance. I will also do searches for various genres and set up playlists, filtering out those...
