Can anybody recommend a good recording of the Beethoven Piano Concerto No.5 (Emperor). I am a classical novice but particularly like this piece. I am more interested in the quality of the recording rather than the performance. I have heard a version...
Apologies for the plug, but it is for a very worthy cause. I have just contributed a previously unreleased track, Homeland, to the current Jazziz Magazine-on-disc offering, also called Homeland, which features me (piano, synth) along with Ross Traut...
Like many, I suspect, I defaulted from piano lessons as a child and now fancy having another go.Also like many, I don't have room to accommodate an acoustic piano.Does anyone have any advice regarding suitable electronic keyboards for serious ...

Hi,A few days ago I received a copy of 'Metallica' on 180gm which I'd ordered from above company. Thing was, on arrival, the plastic protective sleeve was split and the album cover was partially split along the top, obviously from the LP's banging...

I am just about totally pissed of with the amount of new music on CD with record scratching noise in the background, don't they understand that for a lot of us CDs are the preffered source simply because of F***king record scratchy noises from ...
My wife was thinking of me yesterday, and bought this "various artists" compilation for me. From what I understand, it's available exclusively at Starbucks! The list of artists/tracks is quite intriguing:Emmylou Harris - One Big Love (remix)Madonna -...
There's a question I'd like to ask and that's what are your favourite big symphonic pieces from the previous century? And what are its best performances?I know, we're supposed to think the 19th was the great symphonic century, while the 20th was about...
Where are you folks getting your LP's from these days? Anywhere decent online? I'm restricted to picking up 2nd hand stuff as and when I see it but there are quite a few modern albums I wouldn't mind getting on vinyl as well.CheersSteve
Steps have split!Alex
What do you think of their latest venture of using various bassists/sessionmen. I thought after Allen Woody died earlier this year that the "Allman" curse had reared it's ugly head once again. This album truly does rock and is the best in Southern...
Just listened to Christmas CDs. First Christy Moore "This is the Day". Very good indeed, the best he as done in ages. Then the Beach Boys "Carl and the Passions/Holland. Music wise this is a great double CD. Holland really is fantastic considering it...

Lets be honest here.. George Harrison died recently. There was a brief outpouring of grief and then..... business as usual. Why? When he died lots of people popped up on TV saying how great he was, undervalued in the Beatles by John & Paul etc etc blah blah blah.. Wrote all the best songs.... Nicest...etc blah Face it people, we CARED when John died. We didn't so much with George We should have valued him more in life He was a beautiful person Respect

Okay. One more post in me this week.Anyone else enjoy 20th Century piano concertos? Of course you do. So, let me read what they are. But I won’t make you show me yours until I show you mine.Bartok. Of course. I even have a suggestion for each...
Just a plug for this excellent label, run by Peter Gabriel. Over the years they have introduced me to some fine music from the most unlikely sources. The standards of production are almost always very high and they use artists of the finest calibre...
