Dear forum members, after lending and hearing some days a cdp of a friend of mine it’s clear that my cdx2 can’t compete. Much more fun with the golden box in the same price league. I couldn’t believe it because I always loved the sound of the cdx2. Actually I was thinking about an xps dr upgrade but now I’m thinking about saying goodbye to it. Does it make sense to do a service instead? It’s from the end of 2013. Thank you for any opinion. AndiB
I've recently re-joined the vinyl resurgence and re-acquired an LP12 which is the crowning glory on my Quadraspire rack. I've teamed it up with a Stageline to compliment the rest of my Naim-based system and all is sounding rather good but I'm wondering if it could sound better. Has any Forum members opinions on whether "isolation" products (platforms/"feet") would yield a sonic improvement and even if it's worth swapping out the stock Naim cable supplied with the Stageline for something a...
I have just read the recent review and it seems to get a good report, in particular it mentions build quality. Does this mean that Naim has solved the problem with the illuminated logo bar which was held on the sticky tape and could fall off after a couple of hours use
Hello, in addition to thousands of vinyl and cd I also own several SACD (I'm a collector). I would like to be able to take advantage of an SACD Player and use my Naim NDS as DAC (with its own reference DAC) that has the digital S / PDIF coaxial (BNC), coaxial (RCA phono) and optical (Tos link) digital inputs. For example, could I use the coaxial digital output of a Marantz SACD player to send the high definition sacd signal to the Naim NDS dac? Or how should one do? Can a Cambridge CXU...
Must have been discussed before (sorry) but has there been any talk of a Muso that is easier to carry about? Ideally but not necessarily battery powered. It would be great to extend the multiroom play onto the patio etc at times. Even a QB is actually quite awkward to carry. And no, I have no desire to carry one beatbox style through the streets!
Hello everybody! I couldn't find the forum section dedicated to presentations of new members, so here I am: Paul, 27, french and new to the Naim world. I listened to the speakers Focal Aria 948 on a Naim Nait XS2 (70w) and I fell in love with the couple! However, some professionals tell me that this amplifier is too "weak" to drive these speakers. What do you think of it? Have you ever listened to that association aswell ? Details about the Focal Aria 948: Type Three-way bass-reflex...
Good evening forumers, the integrated amplifier Naim Supernait 2 powered by Naim HiCap DR could be able to drive the floorstanding speakers Bowers & Wilkins 803 D3 ?. Thank you David
Can someone please tell me where the NDX display brightness setting is ? didn't turn on the machine for a few weeks. I can barely read the display. Please help. Thanks a lot.
Hi, I have recently got SN2, CDX2, Stageline and Spendor A7 and it is all sounding great. I have kept my Chord Odyssey bi-wire from my previous set up and had the two sets of cables terminated such to make it like single wire. However on checking the lengths of my existing cable I note that it is only 2.5m in length each side. I note that some Naim amps are meant to use 3.5 lengths of cable but don't know if this includes the SN2. Does anyone know if it is a problem using the shorter than...
The Audio Room held a series of Statement listening sessions at their shop in Hull over the weekend (22/23 Sep 2018). Hosted by Darren and Spencer at their fine shop and demo rooms. The system was presented by Naim's Mark Raggett who also played a range of music for our pleasure. So thankyou Mark and a very big thankyou to Darren and Spencer of The Audio Room. This was the first time I had head a Statement which in this case was driven by an ND555 and into a pair of Focal Utopias. My first...
Has anyone here heard Kralk Audio speakers? And what is your impression of them? Dave
I have read some of the countless threads, regarding mains cables, dedicated mains sockets etc... I'm not in a position to have a dedicated supply from my consumer unit, so need some extra sockets for my new 282/NAPSC/HiCapDR/300DR system that I will pick up tomorrow. (Yippee!) Bearing in mind, that the above system each comes with a Power-Line Lite...I think? I've read the spec on each piece of equipment, and apart from the HiCap DR, it was a bit vague as to what mains cable was supplied.
I spent about 16 hours running two dedicated lines from my electrical panel to my listening room. This in the context of a USA split 120 volt 50 hz supply. I have been meaning to do so for about 3 years now and finally got around to it. It was a royal pain to run the new lines (and I have a few holes in the walls to patch still) but the results are very impressive. Overall improved background blackness in the system allowing details to emerge which were previously hidden. It's early days but...
Just last month I realized that my Supernait 2 front panel has changed colour with purple extended stains. I contacted my dealer for assistance but I didn't have no answer about the problem; I searched on the forum and I realized that problably is due to a defect of anodizing process. If so , do you Know which is the Naim replacement policy for this problem ? I bought the Supernait in the 2014.
An interesting article, which presents that the human sense of hearing surpasses the ability that can be predicted from linear models. For example,..you can consider how this implies limitations,or choice of such in terms of bandwidth and sampling frequency eg.In digital systems. ◾This article below is interesting, and I have judged that it is not commercial. If I were to make the wrong judgement, Richard may remove it. I added it in the Hifi corner, hope it's right.???????? ◼...
I have a Pioneer SC-LX73 A/V amp driving a 5 speaker set up, and a Linn LP12/Naim 282/250 hifi set up. Does anyone have experience of using a Beresford TC-7210 switch between the two systems. Thank you.
Just wondering those of you who have purchased and been using the Nd555 streamer, how is it?
Do you listen to the HiFi or do you listen to the music, every time I upgrade I tend to listen to the HiFi and then the music as a secondary part of the upgrade? I wonder what ratio we really listen to our beloved systems? Nick
Hi all I am currently only 32 and have a NDX/Supernait2. I had a few CD's from when I was younger but my musical taste had changed so much that I couldn't Evan tell you where they are. I stream all my music currently but wonder if this is the right route to take long term or to start building my own music collection via buying FLAC or other HD downloads. The other alternative that intrigues me is Vinyl but to those of you who have large nice music collections, knowing what you all know now,...
I know this debate has gone on for some time time but I hope this post will put it to rest once and for all. Both are excellent preamps and will outperform much of the competition for a fraction of the cost, but when deciding between the two here is what I found. System for both was identical. CBNap250/CBHC/CDS/SBL/NACA5. The 72 is better IMO because it has more clarity, a warmer presentation , more of a live sound.,tighter bass and sounds like you are in the front row. The 102 sounds a...
Hi Following a recent purchase of a NAC72/HiCAP/NAP140 I need phono cards for my moving magnet turntable. I understand there are 4 versions of this card with the higher the number, the better performance (forgive me if that is contentious statement!). Currently the best I can find is a 322/2 on eBay. Does anyone have any opinions how they’d compare? I’m assume they would be better than the Rega phono amp I have already (phono mini A2D)? Any views would be appreciated
hi guys what can be updated on the Supernait2, as it has a mini usb on the back for updating purposes. have there ever been any available updates for this? thanks
ND555, NDX2, ... rumors of the Naim DAC being discontinued ... the price of new and second hand Naim DACs have dropped over the last few weeks. It is not clear whether Naim will eventually come out with a new DAC 2. Is it time to buy a backup device for my Naim DAC? Or just wait until it dies and then move to another brand?
I wonder if recap of a 282 from 2006 is a good idea (good s/h price) Will it be as good as new? It is said the volumpot has started to fail, but dealer says Naim will fix that also during recap, if they are informed. Recap cost about BP 400,- I’m a bit pedantic and it should be looked at as «new» after recap Stover
Hello, I'm using a nac72 (hicap / 250) driven by a shure m97xe cartridge. The cards fitted are 322/3. I understand from Naim support the cart loading values for 522N cards are 47 Kohm and 470pF. My questions: 1) Are the 322/3 loading values the same as the 522Ns? 2) would 522Ns fit the 72? 3) the Shure M97 is ideally looking for a loading of 250 pF so the 470 pF floading is high. Any suggestions on how to achieve a better match? Thanks in advance for any replies. modmal.
