In another thread I asked about the best speakers for a 42.5/110 mono amp's well unfortunately those amp's have fallen through and I am now going to look at an Olive 102/180. This is for a second system I'm building that will have a Linn Axis TT and a cheap streaming source that will allow Tidal and internet radio and eventually a head amp so that I can enjoy some music in the evenings as opposed to sticking pins in my eyes to avoid East Enders! I already have a 3rd party psu that includes a...

Wonky active that is, 500 on the LF. and 4 135’s obvioudly the intention is to get a couple more then plonk them in an envelope and off to Salisbury for DRing & service i did this with the Super Sarum speaker cables and although there was a difference each time it wasn’t until I had all 3 pairs when it really took the sound into a new dimension my issue is that 500’s at a decent price are far and few between, so I’m wondering if there’s any mileage in replacing the 135’s with S/H 300’s...
i have obtained a pair of hard wood pillars from a local wood yard and plan to use them for speaker stands. My intention is to use isolating feet so that I do not couple too much into the floor (trying to be a fair neighbour) and blutack the speaker to the top. I like the idea of wood as it avoids any ringing issues with metal and just appears more inert to resonance. Is my plan ok? Or should I couple to the floor as well?
I've been reading a few posts of underwhelming expectations from NAP 300DR owners/converts. By reading these posts I am now more confused on whether the incremental price difference between a NAP 250DR and a NAP 300DR equates to a similar incremental difference in sound quality (stage, clarity, control, etc). My ears ought to be doing this assessment but my issue (like many) is finding a dealer where i can audition both with PMC's Fact 8's. My Fact 8's are currently paired with a SuperUniti,...
Opinions please . Currently XS2 with HicapDR. Would the addition of a NAP200 (non DR ) be a step up. This assembly as illustrated in the Naim user manual. Or an SN2 with my HicapDR Bob F
I have just bought an Olive Hicap to replace the Dual TC on my 102/180 it’s used and doesn’t come with a snaic. I already have two grey snaics but cannot remember if they carry both power and signal or just signal. Is there any way of telling by looking or is it possible and not harmful to just try them and see?

A little off our usual musings, but some advice would be appreciated. My daughter wants a decent bluetooth speaker to play music from her iThing. Fine, I said, I’ll go through some reviews and choose a good one for you. Yes, dear, I’ll make sure it’s a nice colour too. Then I (dangerously) started musing. I’d quite like one too for holidays and the like. Wait a minute, I could buy the same model as I get her and we might be able to pair them up in stereo. Can it be done? A quick Google...
.... I've noticed that Naim's separates range has contracted somewhat. Looking at the Naim website, there's been a drastic reduction and there's only one CD player on offer at the moment. At first, I thought the web page hadn't loaded correctly, but it would appear that is the case: only one CD player in the range. What is Naim's strategy these days? As I mentioned in another post, my original Uniti has gone off for repair, service and 24-bit upgrade and I've heard a lot about streaming and...
Hi Guys Does anyone know if Fyne Audio speakers are a good pairing with Naim amplifiers, I have a unity Star and in looking at Fyne Audio for speakers, they’re a new company based in Scotland and two of their models have had What HiFi 5 Star reviews, I like the look of the F501, short of a demo, I just wondered if anyone has them or has heard them, preferably on a Naim system.
I had an expensive year in 2017, raided the secondhand market and my 202/200 combination turned into 282/250.2. I ducked the 250DR because it had a different character which did not have an instant appeal for me. I am not saying it didn’t sound good, but my ears are just tuned that way. Earlier this year I replaced my Chord Mojo with the Qutest. Each of those changes has been audible, but I am now wondering if progressing further has any merit. My source is a Bluesound Node 2, and my...
Hello all, I have a Linn Sondek/Akito/Krystal/Lingo4, all only weeks old, plugged into a Stageline K into Naim amplifiers. There is also an ND5-XS in the system. There is a low-level "fluttering" noise audible through the loudspeakers when the turntable is selected on the pre-amp. It's quiet enough not to be audible when music is playing. At high volume other "dirty" noises are also audible. If the turntable is disconnected from the Stageline, there is no noise. If I reconnect it and turn...
Two new walnut lp12's have arisen Cymbiosis. If you want one, you better be quick. They won't last long.
I don't know if more of you have already done this. But I have gone against all common sense and have just pre-ordered the ND555 to replace my NDS. I hope and belief I will not regret it. From a sound quality perspective I put the trust in Naim to deliver significantly more than the NDS and from a problem perspective I hope a 500 level product will not have software issues as the other products have had. So let's see now what happens. The logic for me was to be before the big wave which I...
I don't know what else to call it, but does anyone else ever hear this? Basically when volume is pretty high you get a faint audible preview of the track to come in the silence between tracks. I've always assumed some odd pressing issue gives a far lower amplitude signal in the silent periods which is picked up before the track proper plays.
Hi, I'm planning to buy a Naim system, I'm very interested to the new Nova but I have some dubts about it. Sound quality speaking, is the Nova more similar than a SN2+ND5, XS+ND5 or SU? My loudspeakers are Audiovector SR3 floorstanding. I'm new on this forum, thank you in advance for your answer, Alberto
I have been running a Unitiqute 2 through PMC 20.21s. I listen to so much more music now I am steaming from my upnp server (and via Qobuz) than I did when I had my Linn system. I now have the urge for “more”! Thinking of adding a nap200 (possibly second hand) then replacing the Qute with an ND5 XS 2 when available. Does this sound sensible? All my inputs to the Qute are digital (TV, pi, Chromecast) but may in the future want to return to Vinyl (I still have a reasonable record collection but...
Hi all, I wrote some time ago about the topic but only now I have a chance to get the Technics SB-7000 speakers. I guess it's a specific question but maybe someone has had the chanche of putting the 2 together. Any Comments? Thanks. salvo
Good morning all. I have been offered a NAP300 at a very attractive price, so I was thinking as vinyl is my one and only source(and will remain that way), should I swap NAP 250.2 remove supercap from superline and sell that, run the superline from 552 and bring in the NAP 300. Now, due to space constraints on the rack I would need to remove 2 existing boxes (hence 250.2 and supercap being removed) its a quandary and I’m wondering what the thoughts are from the forum, am I unhappy with...
My interconnects are two Chord Shawlines and an inherited (older) Chord Chameleon. Would there be any cost/benefit performance value in changing the Chameleon to a Shawline?
Hi, I have just purchased a Naim 112 pre and NAP 180 power amp. I`m going to use these in quite a small room. What bookshelf speakers should i consider? Cheers,
Packing up a Muso and found these in the box? Can anyone remember where they go?! Thanks
Calling all hi-fi gurus... I recently have purchased the following setup; - Naim Uniti Nova - Dynaudio Special 40 bookshelf’s I’m looking at purchasing the Dynaudio Sub 6 to complete the system. Given the Sub 6 has onboard DSP to match with the Special 40’s it’s important I connect it right. I’m confused... what cables to I use to utilise the DSP on the sub? RCA to the sub.. then RCA back to the Naim??? Thanks in advance Sub manual;...
Hello NAIM users, I guess you all know the feeling when the upgrade bug kicks in, an itch you can’t resist. Though I do love the way my system sounds, you always have the urge to upgrade and witness what more can be musically achieved. Nothing like an upgrade that drops your jaw when listening to a track and hearing things you have not heard before, simply euphoria. its time for an upgrade, currents system is NDX, NAC282 + SuperCap, NAP300, Focal Sopra 2 with Vertere Pulse-X standard, mainly...
