now that Brexit is soon becoming breakfast after the nightmare, thoughts turn to those expressions that only British people understand and leaves English secondary speakers perplexed. Cat amongst the pigeons bucking the trend Action speaks louder than words Any others that will confuse them ???

Watched it on BBC telly earlier today, for the first time in 53 years. Firstly, it's an amazing piece of cinema. At 13 years old, I was unable to appreciate this fact. Secondly, how different the world was in 1964. It stirred a great deal of emotion, looking back on how my life was then, compared to now. It, and the world, looks so simple from 2017. Was it, or was it just me? There were tears as I watched at times... steve

The championship has not yet started and it seems the poor Manor Racing is about to go into receivership and be the first casualty of 2017. I wish them well and hope they can find a buyer and be able to compete this season.

I have just seen the Connections update about Naim and Princess Yachts. Naim really are raising their profile. Good luck I say. By the way, do I get a free Yacht with a Mu-So purchase now :-)

My GP has just referred me to a haematologist as the numerous blood tests indicate this, and it is on top of atrial fibrillation that started in June, not feeling very lucky at the moment. The GP phoned me on Wednesday to say she was arranging an urgent referral, but the appointment recieved for mid March. That doesn't feel urgent, but I know i am the one who is worried. The symptoms I am experiencing are very unpleasant, such good timing as Christmas shuts the medical shop.

My grandkids are always pinching my iphone/ipad to play games which I put on there for them. Recently I have noticed that many of the games no longer work, saying 'update needed'. So, I duly plugged the iphone6plus into my iMac, fired up itunes, and damn it, but it no longer shows what apps are installed on the phone! After a bit of head scratching, I searched 'tinternet and found that this functionality has been removed by Apple. PITA. Now you have to manage iDevice apps on the device...

So Disney is buying (much of) 21st Century Fox at a cost of $66bn. Good thing or bad? Should it smooth the way to Fox buying the rest of Sky, or does it not matter who ultimately owned Fox its still too much (UK) media power in the control of one foreign entity? Could be interesting in the realms of film making with Disney taking control of X-Men and Fantastic Four along side their control of Marvel Studios - only Spiderman (of significance) is outside their full control and they are already...

As someone can perhaps have seen, my previous post with the same title has been first moderated and then deleted (by myself). I thought it was funny, and not offensive, but it must have been considered otherwise at least by Moderators, because I have been privately and publicly 'rebuked', although in a mannered and friendly way. But substance is substance, and censorship is censorship. I can't accept censorship. So: A) I'll rewrite my original post declaring, more simply, that the forum's...

Can I run this past someone who knows how insurers work? I had 15yrs No Claims with protected discount until this year when managed to have 2 scrapes within 2 months (both my fault) and made two claims. I naively assumed my premium would be unaffected because of the protected NCD, ie that this would mean claiming had no effect the next year. My renewal premium has now gone from £240 to £570 on the same car! I rang the insurer (eSure) and they advised that my discount is protected but my...

Good day, Hi-Fi faithful ! Question: I was about to do my first (ever!) music-file download; MQA (Onkyo Music) - 24/96 (FLAC) file. No other file options were avaialble. Recent comparisons of file formats clearly revealed (to me) WAV the superior format. Onkyo Music rep. suggested I find/ use a program to convert the FLAC (using format of choice) to WAV ? Knowing nothing about how this works, or more importantly if going from FLAC 'container' to WAV can even be faithfully (bit-for-bit)...

Hi Folks, There was one hit when I searched for Mauviel on this forum. It needs change. My family is growing. My wife and I started 12 years ago and now we have 4 kids running around. Kids need food. An increasing amount of food is needed every month since they grow well. The elder 2 kids like cooking, they prepare on at least one day per week the food - mostly soup, but also meatballs, fried potatoes, decently cooked vegetables. The most of our cooking gear is used for 2 / 3 years and then...

I’m persistently unable to see the images posted by contributors who use Imgur to host their images. They show as empty white squares. Since nobody else has experienced this, I have to assume it must be my device. I’ve had a look in settings, but can’t see anything there that might be an obvious cause. If anyone has any ideas I’m all ears..

Growing up in The 70s, ears were not something that was seen often. Hair was predominantly over the ears. Now a days ears are everywhere. Sticking out doing their thing naked in front of everyone, which at other times might have seen ungainly. Every one has a unique pair of them. Years of looking at the mirror, I can honestly say that I have the best looking pair. Must be the greatest shape for capturing high bandwidth nuances and dynamic shading. Weakest link ?? Maybe the wrong shape for...

Nothing that I've yet encountered could persuade me to give up the Naim equipment I now own and enjoy. Perhaps an improved version of what I have (i.e. a 372, a vastly improved Muso), but that's about it. I have no interest whatsoever in so called 'upgrading'. The system I have thrills me every time I listen to it. I'm happy to concede there will undoubtedly be better ones out there, but I am content with what I have (and I really mean it, unlike others I could mention). What I don't get is...
