Attention all British citizenry and immigrants, There is a vote about some important issue happening today. I know that some of you are very busy with your lives...having tea and crumpets, scarfing down black pudding (with lots of rat in it) and watching football on the tele...so I'm here as your American friend to remind you to get out and vote...if you want to, I guess. Not sure what all the hoopla is about, and this may not effect you--in which case please disregard this friendly...

Man charged after fiery argument over whether Earth is flat or round Published Tuesday, June 14, 2016 3:28PM EDT Last Updated Wednesday, June 15, 2016 9:53AM EDT A 56-year-old man in eastern Ontario is wanted by police on a mischief charge, after he allegedly threw a propane tank into a fire during an argument with his son's girlfriend over whether the Earth is flat or round. Police say the argument broke out among three family members who were sitting around a campfire at St. Lawrence Park,...

Leak in Mains water supply . We have a leak in our mains water supply. It appears to be in the same place as a leak that was repaired two and a half years ago by Thames Water, but without digging, I can’t be sure. We have a shared mains supply. There are three houses in our road and the diagrams below, accurately describe the supply system to our three houses. It is an abstract from Affinity Water. I can’t find similar drawings on the Thames Water website. We are the middle of three houses,...

Why the anti-EU sentiment in the UK has been on the rise? Is it because Britons are uncomfortable about the rise in immigration? As far as I can see, immigration has been mostly positive for the UK economy by fueling growth, lifting tax revenue and attracting skilled workers in financial services, and health care, among many other areas. In addition, it will enrich the local culture. I am myself not neutral - actually I am fully convinced that Brexit would be bad for Britain, Europe and the ...

As per the title, anyone else noticing this ??? It takes numbers of seconds before its done, it seems like the PC or web line speed is slow, but its not the case for me I have a super quick PC & fibre optic broadband. Can Richard/Naim enquire please. This post took 12 seconds to upload after the publish button was touched - then 9 seconds to edit (update) the post to add this line

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-36565901 Rio has run out of money. Not the local olympic committee, the whole state. Zika virus, drug scandals likely to keep Russia home, unfinished venues, pollution scandals and now this. The chronically corrupt and vampyric IOC will suck whatever residual value may lie in Rio and leave a desiccated shell. The poor will suffer the most.

Many of us on this Forum are coming up to a crossroads and may need to augment our hearing. My doctor tells me that, while not profound, my hearing loss might be an issue. He says "You might benefit from a hearing aid." I can do without them among men and music but for nuance of conversation, I struggle. I spoke to a man about my age with three small girls and a wife. He started his family late in life and says that his hearing loss falls into the range of a young girl's voice. He does not...

Well the new season beckons, though I see some unfortunate clubs have been playing Europa League qualifiers already (no summer hols for the Hammers). So I thought I’d kick off (pun intended) with some predictions. In the PL, as I did last season, I’m going to tip Chelsea to win the title. Mourinho has freshened his squad, it’s a bit younger and I suspect he has retained the all-important hunger. I also won’t be surprised if Mourinho gets Falcoa to fire in the way we know he can. Man City/Man...

Hello again, When visiting the Naim Website tonight. I noticed the web page has changed, possibly a welcome change. I am still dreaming of my yet to happen CD5 XS purchase and like to load the pages and dream. Upon clinking on the default links I was unable to locate a CD player other than the 5si. After doing a search I found the CD5 XS. If anyone new visiting the web page for the first time and did not know the model numbers would only find one CD player. What gives? The same is true for...

Richard - if you think it should be in the Padded Cell, then please move it there. I recently decided that I would benefit from improving the interconnect cable from my ND5 XS to my Nait XS 2. So I looked at the alternatives from the HiLine down. Unfortunately lack of space behind my rack makes the HiLine a risky proposition (risk of breakage on trying to positioning it!). I looked at reviews of Flashback Sales, Witch Hat and AR Sound, and concluded the latter made most sense for me. Then I...

Recent camping purchases brushed against the world of the 'prepper'. A world in which Israeli Army ( the mark of quality) Trauma Bandages, camouflage underwear and keychain crossbows vie with shark repellent and titanium everything . These all literally (literally) won't be used until - Armageddon. Back in the real world - juicers. But there will be others.

My wife's son is visiting this weekend. He had been asked to sell his partner's father's records. One of the LPs was a version of The Beatles Rubber Soul, on some little known and obscure French label. He said that, even after careful cleaning, the sound was nothing special and the record was in poor condition (probably would have counted as NM on Discogs, though). The item sold for over £500 on eBay. He and I were discussing this over a glass of wine and it made me query what motivates some...

I switched form SKY to Virgin TV a couple of months back and frankly have been disappointed with picture quality from new box. Lower contrast and less clarity in short. Today I swapped over from bog standard mains block to a Missing Link one no longer needed in listening system just on the off chance and hey presto, what a difference! Lovely picture now. This may not come as a surpise to some, Others may view as hokum but for me it's been a marvelous revelation. Brilliant

I've got three post grad qualifications and a hundred years experience of using PCs; I can set up a network, build a PC from scratch and use pretty much anything but I will be damned if I can consistently post photos into this site! In the distant happy past I could post them from flickr using the instructions that were listed but then those happy days passed and it no longer worked. A friendly Hallibut who occasionally swims in these waters told me about Photobucket and lo, I could use it...

So we have two parties whose membership have risen up and defied the 'conventional' choices and selected two leaders that appear to wider opinion to be unelectable. Corbyn had a huge groundswell of support in the party membership, but minimal amongst his parliamentary colleagues. Trump is an outsider largely loathed by the party establishment elected in defiance by party members. There are differences of course-Trump spent millions on advertising and has an ego the size of the moon, and...

I grew up in pounds & ounces but my industry worked in metric & I worked all over the world so I converted well before the 1971 “decimalisation” date. The UK however has been troubled for years moving out of the old imperial measures, we seem to be stuck in a halfway-house. Yes its nice that I can go to the local butcher & ask for 8 ounces of … or 500gr of … or a steak “yey” thick … or 6 dry cured back rashers. I buy milk by the bottle not caring if its a litre or pint & the...
