Is that the best England can do? He's a bloody animal. Not sure it really sends the right sort of message at the grass roots level.

TANDY ? Did they go bankrupt, voluntary liquidation, merge, swallowed up ? Just curious. I popped into Reading today, must be six months or a year since I last went into town. I wasn't surprised that Tandy was gone, its been gone for donkey years, but as I wandered past the place it had been, I began to wonder "What ever happened to....." Loads of other "Whatever happened to...." hifi (*) names began to spring to mind as well..... (*) OK, so Tandy wasn't top-notch hifi, but.........neither...

I'm going to ask my accountant to get me onto that Google Tax Scheme the HMRC have just introduced. I'm going to save a fortune. Happy days.

Can't remember whether I've had a whinge about this before, but ... Just got round to watching the current season of Silent Witness.  A load of tosh, as are the majority of TV crime programs, but eminently watchable.  I became rather irritated that Emilia Fox talked about severing the ulnar artery, when even a first year student nurse would know that the incision shown was over the RADIAL artery.  Do they actually have medical technical advisers, or do they just not care? This...

While browsing  the forum,  I noticed some posts go back to July 2000 or whereabouts and  I then began to wonder if this is how far the forum actually goes, had there been a previous incarnation and who are the oldest contributors and members. It is rather fascinating reading the different opinions and evolution on Naim gear and also on music tastes in the last 15 or so years. Times may have changed but people are still very much engaged on having a good discussion and...

I am looking for a new router for home use to replace the one supplied by our ISP. I am not sure of what features I should be looking for, a brief look on line talks about ac-grade rather than a/b/g/n standards as this will future proof it, I am unclear of what this means or what other features I should be looking for? I am looking to spend around £130 or there about, more if it is justified. The router is mainly for home computer (laptop), iPad use though our Oppo Blu-Ray player is a also...

Just noticed that the Forum Date format is in the 'American' order.  i.e. Month/Day/Year.    Don't know if it's always been like that.  Any way of changing it to the British one of Day/Month/Year?

In one word. Epic! Been to see it today. Completely faithful to the originals with many nods in their direction throughout. If you liked them, you'll love this. It's like the last three were just a bad dream.

It is not often that the passing of a “celeb” seems noteworthy to me, but Stewpot has always seemed to be a geniunely likeable fellow... http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06rf35q This is his last broadcast from Christmas Day 2015. I think if anyone listens to this link it may bring a real smile to the face. Music from Laurel and Hardy right through to Michael Jackson! I was surprised to see the announcement on the BBC website earlier. ATB from George

There is an interesting article on the BBC's website at the moment re the loudness wars.  Not much that is new or unknown other than a conclusion that the move to streaming via services such as Spotify may finally end the loudness wars because those services equalise volumes across tracks anyway and the advantage of louder music is lost whilst the drop in quality remains.  Not sure how valid that argument is but it would be a welcome fall out from streaming if true

Dear Forum Members This is an advance notice that there will be some significant changes happening to the site architecture as our forum provider is upgrading their platform. Of course with all changes some will be welcome, others will feel less familiar and may initially feel alien to regular contributors, please rest assured we have been working hard to migrate as much consistency as possible, and think we are very close. Luckily the new structure does provide plenty of admin tools and...

Called "Compression versus Art", just broadcast (Wednesday 7th lunchtime). Featuring a reasonable input from Steven Wilson, Steve Levine, musicians of several genres and actual scientists. Very interesting, worth seeking on i-player. Sorry if this is inappropriate forum. (Obviously has to apologise for the lack of comparison-ability when listening on internet radio, although some of the differences were very marked nevertheless).

As the title suggests it's time to renew our insurance. I'm currently with John Lewis but their price has just crept up over £400 so it's time to consider alternatives. I've been with Hiscox in the past too and their price rose too none of which as the results of claims. Who deals with expensive systems sympathetically? Any suggestions?

In a normal year, the grass gets its last cut in early December, and that's it until March. But this year it's so warm that it just keeps growing. I gave it a trim just before Christmas, and now it needs doing again? The trouble is, with all the rain, it's now too wet to walk on. If it carries on like this it will be a foot high come the spring.

Just to wish all a Happy New Year. 2015 will not be remembered too fondly here for various reasons. At home we also start 2016 with a bit of a challenge but hopefully that will be sorted in the first few months. Compared to many in the UK, and abroad, our woes are minor. Our home is not waterlogged, we are not huddled in a derelict fishing boat trying to escape a civil war, and thankfully our burndies are intact and have all been delivered (sorry if that reference escapes...
