http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-politics-32964600   Very sad. May he be at peace.   The only leader to stand up and be counted against the Iraq war.   Unfortunately he knew nothing else except politics having been elected so young. A...

Some of you will know my set-up. I have reduced the cost of my forthcoming SL speaker cables (considerably!) by deciding to run to the l/h speaker cable across an open room-dividing arch. So; how to cover and protect it? A visit to my local Screwfix outlet revealed that they stock this:- The perfect length for my requirements and only £15. The Screwfix guys told me that they have all tried it on their high-end sound-systems and can hear no deleterious effect. Now I just need the stuff to go...

The world cup has just kicked off here in Canada. I have watched parts of two games (China Vs Canada and and NZL Vs NED). I'll admit that I am pretty shocked at the poor standard of play. I was expecting much better. I doubt I'll be watching any more....

I came to Car Share late and I didn't immediately warm to the first episode, but I stuck with it and was very glad that I did.   I hadn't initially planned to watch it as in the past I have found Peter Kay's humour, though funny, a bit obvious...

Last night I went to a press screening of the first episode latest Scandi-noir, Jordskott from Sweden. Oddly enough it's not being shown on BBC4, but ITV Encore.   Judging from this first episode, this looks like being a gripping ride, with yet...

Time to say goodbye to those that I have become acquainted with during my time on this forum. It appears that people can openly discuss their experiences with Chord STA and other third party accessories but my contributions seem to be censored and...

An idea: why not open a special and separate forum for Statement and SuperLumina products/owners? They could have an exclusive place for exclusive gear, where red drinks with small umbrellas are served. The Hi-Fi corner has recently acquired some of...

I wish I was at Headingley today (wrapped in a blanket) to see the last day of the series. Whatever happens this has been a great start to the cricket summer. The Black Caps have been true to their word; playing cricket with an attacking attitude and a determination to entertain and also enjoy themselves. They have some talented players and also a 'no fear' approach that seems to have liberated good performances from some more average ones. No sledging either-what a refreshing change. I...

Hi,    So I've just bought a nice secondhand bmw 5 series (e61) which I like a lot, but unfortunately has mediocre audio. I'd like to upgrade it in a cost effective manner, say anything between 1000 and 1500 euro's. I listen mostly to...

Prompted by Dayjay's comment on another thread where he notes a poor night's sleep I'd add that my own nocturnal restlessness is almost guaranteed these days. Have not had a good solid seven or eight hours for as long as I can remember.   Any...

Chaps   Following the recent fruitful discussions on shirts and brouge shoes, I felt it may be productive to extend to decent jackets.   I have noticed both in London and Milan that the more dandified chaps are wearing what appear to be...

Hi all, I expect we all get the e-mail scams that tell us an amount of money is in a deposit account & its waiting for you to contact us ............ This morning I got a letter - a paper thingy - posted in UK with a Royal Mail SmartStamp.co.uk (business) stamp (£0.63) & the content along the same lines as above from a "Business Relations Manager" at China CITIC Bank, Hong Kong - the e-mail traces back to Vietnam BTW. It seems a step change in that £0.63 has been spent to mail it,...

I’ve been using the Apple Watch for a few weeks now, I must say that I am very much impressed, and like it a lot: Things I like: A great piece of engineering Very comfortable to wear, much more than my Swiss watch (do not want to say what it is, but it is very expensive) Works just like a [miniature] iPhone – The interface is very intuitive Colors are vibrant; blacks are inky; and it's viewable in direct sunlight Notifications on the Watch are actionable -- such as e-mail messages, calendar...

Now I know this question will produce a myriad of answers. I have been buying wine for the last few years via a wine merchant and although the wine is good I am cheesed off with their overall service as a supplier. I know the supermarkets spin lots of claims for wine reduced from £10 / 12 to £5.99 but I’m sure we all know that is all B S. I had been buying Sicilian 'Don Carlos' and 'Villa Del Sol' which I really enjoyed. So who can recommend the best wines (red in particular) for around...
