Hi I currently run my system with an av receiver (pioneer lx72) and this runs my stereo and Bluray fix. Rest of system is pioneer Bluray player, nd5xs, spendor a6 front, spendor c5.2 centre, b&w mt30 complete the speaker package. I am enjoying the stereo sound and sometimes I am amazed at the quality. But sometimes I listen and think the bass and drive just isn't there! My Bluray playback is awesome and this really blows me away. So, I am pondering whether to add a nait xs for pure...

When I bought my DVD5 it was because of the sound quality. Others at the time had what I thought to be a slightly better picture, but I wanted the best sound quality for my DVD concerts. Now I am thinking of upgrading to HD, but is there a HD DVD...

I am using an nvi + NAP 200 + Harbeth HL-P3ES, principally for (i) playing DVDs (through old Panasonic 22" LCD TV) and (ii) streaming audio via a Sonos ZP90. This year will see a TV upgrade to something bigger and better, with lots of bells and...

I've just connected my new Oppo BDP-93 Bluray player to the "OP2" input on my AV2.The volume level is so low, I have to turn the AV2 right up to over 70 on the display. Not a problem as such, but potentially dangerous when I switch to another source...

Fortunately, I have not required many repairs as a Naim user; however, my DVD5 has been the exception.  It was with the distributor for 6 months for repairs/service.  The unit was purportely repaired and returned to me.  To my...

Just finished ripping all my music DVDs, and thought I'd note a few of the techniques I have used. I am working on Linux, but much of the software is available for Windows. In an earlier post I wrote how I was ripping to mkv, mkv being a container...

The other day I almost gave in to temptation and bought an Onkyo processor. Why? I suppose there is a truth that I like the thought of the modern technology, after all I could: play with sound shaping; get a DLNA client; have a video switch;...

So how does the Oppo stack up against itself, and the Naim DVD5, when streaming films? Pretty well, BUT ...., of which more anon. In terms of picture quality I would say that it is BETTER. I rip my DVDs to MKV via MakeMKV specifically...

I am assured that this is legal, so hopefully it won't trouble the moderators. Does anyone have experience of unlocking Blu-ray players for other region Blu-ray discs or DVDs? I believe it is generally harder to unlock for Blu-ray playback.

Hello everyone, No replies on HiFi Corner, hope to get some here. I just bought a used Nait5i & really like the sound which I prefer over a Nait3 I was using. However, I am disappointed over the AV input which i had set unity gain & connected with pre-outs of my AV receiver. No matter what I try, a loud thump comes over my speakers when I switch to the AV input. This happens even if my AV receiver is not on. When I googled this problem, I read another nait5i user...

Hi - I'm thinking of trying moving my sub from being connected to the AV amp, to be connected to my SN, so that it's also used for music. Before I go to all the palava of doing this I thought I'd see whether people thought it was worth trying. Currently for home theatre I have my front L&R channels routed from my AV amp (Sony STRDA3300ES c. £700 about 4 years ago) through my SN, with no centre speaker. Front speakers are Neat momentum 3i - I have them set to small with the cross-over...

Hi all, new member here, 1st post - hope you can help! I'm looking at buying a N-Vi to replace my existing Hi-Fi and home theatre set up and have a couple of questions I'd like to throw open! I've never had any Naim equipment before so this is quite a big step and I don't want to make the wrong decision! So question one is about the quality of the N-vi compared to separates. I know its all subjective, personal taste and room layout play a big part, but, I wonder how it would stack up against...
