Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why, where a dedicated power supply is used, are signals routed from the pre-amp through the SUPER-CAP, HI-CAP or FLAT-CAP to the power amp, rather than directly from the pre-amp to the power amp? A: The absolute earth reference for the system is the reference for the pre-amp, which is the SUPER-CAP, HI-CAP or FLAT-CAP earth. The signal is routed from the pre-amp to the power supply using the same interconnect that takes the power feed from the power supply to the pre-amp. It also...
If you have already had your unit working and the remote is no longer pairing with your unit then the following sequence is the one that I have had confirmed as being correct... Ensure that the Atom / Nova proximity sensor isn’t being triggered (volume indication LED ring on volume control is not illuminated). Holding the remote away from the unit press and hold the “Home” button until the volume ring on the remote “circles”. Once the volume indicator is circling release the home button.
Standard Naim Interconnects. Interconnects carry only audio signals. Naim usually include a standard grey Interconnect in the box with sources. It is no after-thought, but rather a great sounding high performance cable that complements Naim equipment perfectly. Pictured above - standard Naim interconnect. Grey or grey with a slight lavender tinge outer sheath, DIN5 (180) at both ends, green direction band. Used for connecting signal from sources such as a Naim CD player, streamer, or tuner...
A few reasons why we use DIN connections: Naim use three types of DIN connector: DIN4 (4 pins in a 216 degree arc) - Typically used for pre-amp signal OUT and smaller power amp signal IN. It can carry signal as well as 24V DC when used between a suitable Naim Power amp and pre-amp where the power amp's power supply also provides power to the pre-amp. DIN5 (5 pins in a 240 degree arc) - Typically used between a power supply and a pre-amp or phono stage where it carries signal as well as 2 x...
Here is a link to Naim serial numbers for each year. Naim Serial Numbers Note that the current serial numbering scheme began in 1982. Prior to this the serial numbering was different and cannot be easily dated by serial number. Also, staff built items have either no serial number or a different numbering scheme. Mu-So products have a different numbering scheme. All Statement product is hand built to order, serial numbers are produced from a pre-selected range and do not correspond to the...

A basic guide to SL2 set-up: 1. remove bass boxes from the packaging. Loosely fit spikes and nuts to the bases - leave a decent length of thread to level properly later. 2. Attach the tweeter arms to the bases. Ensure the arms are fully seated - failure to do so will give you big problems later. Tighten arms so they are vertical and stay still but are moveable. Best to push down on the arms when tightening to ensure they remain well seated. 3. Ensure crossovers are fitted correctly. tighten...
Inserting a linked image such as an album cover from the web is straightforward. 1) choose your jpeg image - copy the url from the address header bar. Amazon or Wikipaedia is a good image resource for album covers. You will need the specific url of the image itself, so right click and open image in new tab helps here, or else search on google and press view image on the one that you choose. 2) In the post reply box, click on the button with the image of a mountain in it (insert/edit image...
You need to push until the first major resistance - some stop there thinking it's in, but it's not, at least not properly. It then needs a much firmer push to open up the very tight jaws to make a proper grip on the pins. As you do so you'll see the...
Should the protection fuse blow on any piece of Naim equipment, make sure you get the exact same make and type - this is important. Your Naim dealer can help, or else get in touch with Steve Hopkins at the factory. NEVER be tempted to bypass or...
How to build the Naim Fraim The following guide is designed to allow you to build your Naim Fraim as quickly, easily and effectively as possible. More experienced Fraim users may have developed their own technique or order of build, but the end result should be the same as you would get from following this guide. I have tried to resist dwelling on some of the more "tweaky" aspects but have mentioned the ones I feel are important. Anything that is not absolutely essential I have marked as...

Naim power amplifiers do not have extra inductance networks in the output, Naim prefer to use the speaker cable to provide the correct inductance and capacitance. To do so a minimum of 3.5 metres of NACA4 or NACA5 cable is required – although the optimum is around 5-10 metres. We find the supplied Naim speaker plugs to be an optimal match for the 4mm sockets we use on our amplifiers. In addition, the plugs are designed in such a way as to prevent them being accidentally inserted into...
I've come to realise that I keep answering the same questions on this topic, so here's my suggestion for an FAQ : HOW TO INTEGRATE A STEREO AMPLIFIER INTO AN AV SYSTEM Integration of Naim pre/power or integrated Stereo amplifiers with a Naim AV2 based system is simple. Just download and follow the Naim AV2 manual from the Naim main website. It’s in the manuals section under OLD PRODUCTS. Just remember that the DIN/DIN lead you use to connect the AV2 to the Naim stereo amp is a “reversed”...

In addition to the transit screws you MUST obtain and use the transport packing piece. If you do not have one please contact your Naim retailer or Distributor - have the serial number of your CD player available.
Before you start - NACA5 has ridge on one edge. Designate this conductor POSITIVE and ensure that, in every instance, this ridged side of the cable is connected to the positive (RED) socket. NEVER solder speaker cables that are still connected to your amplifier. It will help to have some form of jig or arrangement to hold the cable steady and locate the 4mm plugs while soldering and during the cooling period. Either a couple of 4mm sockets in a plank of wood or just two 4mm holes (with the...

Just to save time in the future - no it cannot.
Although unable to offer an explanation explanation for this effect we have observed it. As a result we mark our cables and interconnects for orientation. Speaker Cable: - this is marked with arrows. These point FROM the amplifier TO the speakers. It is probably a good idea, early in the cable's life, to make some additional differential to, say, the amplifier end. This is because the markings can fade with age. I would suggest marking the plastic case of the speaker plug. Tippex or similar.
