Streaming Audio

Several times, my 2TB Unitiserve won't restart after a power interruption (dreading flashing logo). It's been to the (excellent) local repairer (John Ong at Sound Gallery) here in Melbourne who has to keep resetting the BIOS settings to get it to work. He's replaced the BIOS battery but the problem keeps happening. I've resorted to buying a surge protected UPS to (hopefully) stop it happening again. Apparently, this is a well known problem with early Unitiserves. Does anyone know how to fix...

We’d like a small cheapish (c. £200) wireless speaker for our dining area - low level background dinner party stuff (until we’ve all had too much wine, then it might go up just a bit...). My query is what is the difference between solely wireless bluetooth and wireless bluetooth WiFi speakers. I’d be using an ipad and my Tidal account. Was thinking the Audio Pro Addon T3 or C5? The Oppo-203 is, among other thinks, a network player. Connected to a Naim DAC via electrical or optical S/PDIF, it can deliver high resolution streams from LAN UPnP servers, Qobuz, Tidal, etc. Has anyone compared the Oppo-203 as a network player to dCS, NDX2, DigiOne Signature or other established transports?

Quick question - as per the title of this topic; since a couple of days most of the time Tidal stops after playing a track ... not always ... switching the Nova off and back on has not changed this behaviour. Any thoughts on this?

Apologies if this is a daft question but I am new to streaming. I exchanged my CD555 for the new ND555 after a demo which convinced me of the sound improvement the ND555 delivered. I have the Melco D100 CD ripper and a Melco server. My question is, can this set up also be used to play CDs ?? It seems to me that all the components are present but how to connect together to play CDs ? I would just like the option. The rest of my system is 552/50 into Spendor 200. Thanks

I have just bought a Naim NAP 250 (Chrome) to use with my Naim Atom. Havent connected it up yet, on the Unitiqute 2 there was an option to turn off the internal power amp, doesn’t appear to be that option on the Atom. Is it ok to leave the Atom with no load on the speaker terminals?

Literally my only complaint is the lack of album art for the majority of the CDs I have ripped to a WD 2TB USB drive. I have been very lucky recently to be able to purchase an NDX2, what a great piece of kit. What I am not sure how to do is to turn off the display. I am sure I remember an earlier post on the same subject concerning the ND555, but I’m bugg£#ed if I can find it. Hi - I have my Uniti Core WAVE music store files backed-up to a portable SSD via the Core UBS front connection. I've followed the back-up procedures using the Naim app. If I ever need to restore the files from the back-up (following the restore steps in the Naim app), will metadata changes I've made to the original WAVE music store files be recovered (album art, etc.)? Afraid I couldn't find a clear answer on a Forum search. Thanks as always for your input.

I have recently been lucky enough to purchase an NDX2, a great piece of kit. I am keen to know how to turn off the display screen. I am sure I have seen something posted earlier concerning the ND555, but I’m bug?!red if I can find it. Any tips? Plus my second very dim question about an NDX2 manual. Hi, Ive just got a Uniti Star and am climbing the learning curve! As I intend to rip around 700 CDs to an external hard drive I need to be able to do a back up of my music store onto a second hard drive. On the Naim App under Settings/ Manage Music, it says "configure music storage, backup & restore must". When I expand this there is no further reference to "backup". Would I be right in assuming the reference to backup is a red herring and that I will need to copy via a PC/Mac? Any...

I have started to rip the new 200 cd Mozart Edition on my Core. Each time I rip the next cd it obliterates the last one resulting in only a single cd being ripped. I do not understand how or why it would just overwrite and I have tried going back to rip an earlier cd again it just overwrites. Does anyone have any ideas other than going back to dppoweramp.

I ripped all my CDs to a QNAP NAS using an HDX and according to Naim support the ND555 should be able to access these files directly. However the only way I can access these files on the ND555 is by using the HDX as a server, not directly from the NAS. The ND555 is on the same network and can “see” the files via the QNAPs own mediaserver as a contiuous list of tracks with no album or artist data. Currently I'm using the ND5XS streamer with the XP5XS power supply. Can the XP5XS also be used as the power supply for the new NDX2 when upgrading to the NDX2?? Upgrading both to NDX2/XPS2 doesn't fit in my budget right now :-)

I use Backup Station to do my incremental backup onto an attached usb 3.0 hdd. Even though it's incremental, it seems to take much longer than it "should." With about 1.2 tb of total music, if I've added say 12 albums, it nevertheless takes 24 hours, or a little more, to do it's thing. I have it set to "check file contents" which I BELIEVE means it's truly doing only an incremental backup. Do any of you QNAP users have a better system for backing up to an external drive? Maybe an app better...
