What do others do? Never been a big CD user despite buying hundreds, so most are pristine and rip perfectly. Every so often I encounter the odd one with a few rogue tracks that don't rip correctly. What do you do? I ejected a Tori Amos CD stuck on a particular track gave it a wipe and it ripped quickly. Now have an old Carpenters CD of Mrs AC's which has several errors and a few visible scratches. dBPowerAmp has ben re-ripping frames for ages, tempted just to buy an equivalent download, but...

I’ve recently implemented streaming in my living room audio system, first using a Naim Uniti Core to rip my entire CD collection, then fitting it into my living room’s old fashioned two channel stereo system. Naim Uniti Core > Audio Alchemy DDP-1 DAC > Audiomat Prelude Reference MKII amp > Quad ESL-63 speakers. Super pleased with the way it works and the way it sounds. But I’ve had my eye on Roon since I started on my streaming project. Just today I notice Naim has recently...

Just saw this on the Naim Facebook page - 22 ND555 Roadshow evenings in UK between June and November. Its not yet on the website/Connection section yet, Im sure it soon will be, as will other Roadshows elsewhere. Only 19 are showing so far, Im just hoping there will be one at my local dealer in the 3 remaining to be announced - getting elsewhere to a dealer for a 6.30pm kick off on a Thursday is not so easy on a working day! Something to look forward to anyway.

For a number of reasons I wont go into here in my new house my ethernet switch is going to be about 30' from my Router. However, the switch will be a lot closer to my NDX and my NAS which will both be connected to it . Am I right in thinking that when the NDX accesses ripped or downloaded music on the NAS then the connection is simply the short cables from the NDX to the switch and from the switch to the NAS and the 30' connection to the router is not involved at all? My reason for asking is...

I’ve been using a Glasgow based DS through Naim amps for many years, recently via Kudos speakers bi-amped 250’s streaming my CD collection which I’ve ripped to a NAS. But I’ve just dipped my toe in the streaming service pool with trial subscriptions to Spotify Premium, Tidal HiFi, Qobuz HiFi & Deezer HiFi. So these are my initial thoughts/findings. Integration : - Spotify, Tidal & Qobuz all integrate directly. Spotify via Spotify connect so you use the native app either on a laptop...

Is there a good media server s/w package out there? My NAS is a Seagate Personal Cloud which works very well as a drive from any PC or laptop in the house that's mapped to it. It's more than fast enough. Reading it via the iPad Naim app is dog slow though, to the point where it usually times out before it's got everything across so I end up with Artists A to about T with gaps if I'm lucky, and nothing beyond. This is with Plex, supposedly one of the best media server packages. If I run the...

I've deeply tested my new uniti atom and here a list of features I would like to have in a future update: 1) a way to switch off the display from the app and from the remote 2) a way to setup the preferred list order 3) a way to browse web radios and upnp servers using the remote and the display Do you agree? Do you have other ideas?

Was sat thinking my iPad Mini heck even an IPod new style but probably 4 yrs old is still getting o/s and app support pretty much as any new product - I do loathe Apple as all other tablets/phones are Android Back on track ... Relate this to Naim and a few threads now about NDS, NDX, let's just say now the discontinued streaming range, will never get the latest and greatest updates. Apart from loving the Naim sound, I do love the fact when I do upgrade and sell on old boxes, most times the...

Hello, Having the same issue as Patrick74200 in April ("no new replies are permitted", so I start again): The search function on the Naim app (indicated by the magnificying glass top right) when running my Nova does not search on the UPnP server, it only allows to search "local music". Not sure how Naim defines "local music", but anyway, I can't search my music stored on my Synology NAS for my Nova. However, I can search music on the same Synology NAS & UPnP for my NAC-N 272! This was...

Hi, hopefully someone may be able to shed light on a problem. I have used chromecast audio over the last 2 years for streaming via Qobuz (16 bit) and local streaming from my PC via Plex media server. CCA is ethernet connected from router into nDac. Over this time local streaming has worked well with downloaded 16 bit and hi-re files up to 24/192 and ripped CDs. However, over the last 2 weeks locally streamed 24/88 files and upwards have been marred by a short (typically 1 second break),...

I have read that Apple wireless networks are not that good for use with music systems? In our home we have fibre net distributed by a Inteno modem, but with its inbuilt wireless functions set to off. I have an Apple Airport Extreme taking care of the wireless functions. The main system is placed in the basement and the Extreme is placed at the ground floor. Cabled ethernet to the system though. There's a concrete floor between the two levels giving the wireless net a little "hang" or lag. I...

Been having a problem with the Naim app over the past few months. If I am playing some music then pause or stop it, when I return to it after a while and click play, the music resumes from were I left off for a few moments then stops, with the ‘no track playing’ message. I’ve got a fairly robust network set up using a Synology NAS, AirPort Extreme and express etc so not sure if this is a problem with the app. The same happened when I did a recent demo of a core, with music playing via upnp.

Has anybody had / heard of the following problem? Using the app (Core) I select an album to play and action accordingly via digital connection (Dig 1 in 272), after a number of tracks (no pattern) it will stop playing (waits until the end of a song) and when I try and re select the next track it acknowledges that the tracks are added but no music, just shows as waiting to play, I.e press play button (when pressing nothing happens). If I then go into the app (272) and choose the Core via...

SuperUniti can not “see” NS01 as a UPnP source. As advised by naim, I reboot the NS01: Press and hold the power switch on the front of NS01 until it flashes NS01 shuts down Disconnect the mains cable and leave for a couple of minutes reconnect power and power up again using the front power switch NS01 works for a while, ie it can be seen on the network as a UPnP source Then NS01 only plays one track of an album: eventually disappears from network I try to reboot NS01 again, but the front...

Just received my Core back from Naim (who repaired the cd-loader, very efficiently). But 48 hours after I reinstalled the HDD and configured it as the music store, carefully not deleting the music - those buttons are very close together! - only the music in the downloads folder is visible in the app; not a single ripped cd out of the c. 2500 cds on there shows up in the app. They are all there because I can see them in Finder (I also copied one of them out to iTunes as an experiment), but...

Hi, I have just noticed that I am not running the latest firmware on my Atom. I have 2 questions if I may: 1. Have any other Atom/Uniti users updated successfully and with no negative side effects? I know there were some that experienced a reduction in SQ on one of the previous firmware updates (though maybe not the Uniti range). 2. The app has an install button, which it is inviting me to click. Is it is simple as that, or is there a lot of mucking about downloading a file to my computer...

In 2011, my CDs were originally ripped using a UnitiServe. The UnitiServe ripped them in WAV, and I think, stored the metadata in a separate folder. I used XLD to convert those WAV files to FLAC, and some were even converted to ALAC, just to see if there was any difference in the SQ. After loads of issues, the UnitiServe went, and I replaced it with a ND5 XS. I am now eagerly awaiting the NDX 2. Where possible, my music is now downloaded from HDTracks, or HIGHRESAUDIO. I'm wondering...as I...

Hi All, I’ve just purchased a Uniti Core and I’m having some problems with backing up the Core to my Synology Nas. The Nas is accessible from the Core and the Core managed to write some files such as a backup folder in the share. However, the backup fails less than a second after starting and the status shows error with no other details. Backing up to a local hard drive works fine. Does anyone know I should go about troubleshooting this? Thanks!

Hi there! I have a question about a following scenario: I have a HDD in my Core. I want to transfer the content of this HDD to another HDD. I would like to do this in a way that I could use the new HDD immediately as "my music" and start listening. I know that I can do a back up to a USB drive. Then create a new store on that new HDD and back up from the USB drive. Isn´t there a "direct" way without first making a backup and then restore that backup? Like mirroring the HDD to another HDD and...

I have just signed up with Tidal HIfi and have downloaded the app on my iPad, I can get Tidal to play through my Superuniti via the Naim app but not the Tidal app. I can’t seem to “authorise” the Superuniti on the Tidal app, any help would be appreciated. Nick

Why do Naim think it is a good move not to publish instruction manuals anymore? I am looking at replacing my original Uniti with either a Uniti Atom or Star and whilst I can look at the specifications, watch Naim set-up videos, and read reviews etc, they do not provide enough information. I like to do my homework and find it a very frustrating that no manuals are published to provide answers to my queries. Is it cost cutting or do Naim not think it is important for the end user to be able to...
