Streaming Audio

I'm running a QNAP 251+ and just replaced a WD 4Tb Red with a WD 8Tb Red - all went well and NAS running OK. Then I plugged in a second USB 4Tb WD Book to the existing USB 4Tb WD Book to match the 8Tb. So now I have one 8Tb internal drive and two 4Tb USB back-up drives. But I can't see anyway to pair up the two USB drives or create a shared backup folder. Any ideas?

I had previously tried a Supra Lorad Silver ilo of the cable that came with the switch (actually not sure IF it came with one new), but found it really strangled the sound, a very compressed and shut in sound. I found a new standard Naim power lead and used that instead, i recall it just made sense, sounded natural and err very Naim. Hi all, just got this Nova but I have a few problems... Firstly, is there any way to make the pre amp outputs fixed? Second, will the unit respond to standard infra remote codes, or is it RF only? Thirdly(!), neither the front or rear USB sockets seem to work. I have various HD's and sticks with music files on copied from my Mac (it finds them ok using Asset) but I get nothing. So, thinking of giving in to the upgradeitis disease and moving up from the Atom, the Nova would be a natural choice but then I got thinking about the Star, funny it seems to be the poor relation somehow and going by this forum probably the least popular of all three unities, even online there’s not many reviews compared to the other two. It’s got a lot going for it though - a CD player and ripper, more clout then the Atom with 70w, possibly sweeter sounding too and then there’s the cost...

Hi all I know this has been mentioned in the past ..but don't know if it was even resolved Tidal offer ( new members ) a 6 month (seven months with the free trial month) one off payment scheme that works out at about £16.60 a month. I know this because I have used it twice already. The pain is ..you have to create a new account each time with new email address...not the end of the world ...but a pain loosing all your saved artist / albums. Is there a way round this yet that anyone has found?

Am I right in thinking I can connect an external hard drive to a Naim Unitiserve SSD via the USB port, is this all I need to rip and store CD’s ? Thanks, Nick

I have a UServe SSD with a NAS 2TB, where 1.1 is used and 800 GB remaining. Ripped CD with no issues last night. I noticed the Naim post to say all streamers will be updated to support Apple Air Play 2. However the 272 isn't on the list of supported streamers.

After recently updating my 272 firmware to version 4.6 (which is sounding superb by the way) I have, for the first time, started experiencing dropouts on Tidal. I had no such problems at all whilst running version 4.4. This morning was the third time Tidal just stopped mid way through a track after about an hour of listening. Nothing has changed in my setup. I have informed Naim support.

hello there, this is my first post on here. recently I’ve bought an Atom and all is good apart from it doesn’t seem to play through AirPlay. i also have a Qb in another room. This is on the same server and hard wired via nether net too - this causes no problems. is anyone else on here having the same issue with the Atom? It sees my Wi-fi network and temporarily connects....but when I press play on iTunes it says “unable to connect to Atom”.... Any suggestions very welcome - getting this...

I shut my Unitiserve down last Friday, along with my Uniti prior to leaving for a weekend break. Having returned, I switched the US back on this evening and the green logo is flashing continually. My Cisco 2960 and Qnap TS251+ NAS are both in the loft. Both are working without problem, but whilst doing a bit of tidying up on the Qnap yesterday I checked the system status and saw that the temperatures for the Qnap and the HDD were in the 46 -48 degC range. A quick check of the specs for both the NAS and the Cisco suggests 40 - 45 degC as the maximum for the operating range. I took my hifi out of the study and installed it in the living room for a few weeks (whilst I was off work) - it was great in there, the much bigger room gave the music more space to expand into and the sound quality was definitely better. it’s finally happened... thanks to this forum somone had mentioned Qobuz streaming into their Naim streamer via Bubble UPnP Server... and being the sort of chap I am I thought I’d give that a go... and I posted a few remarks about it at the time. Several weeks later I have noticed something... my family and I are only really using Qobuz for CD resolution playback... my local NAS isn’t being used apart from the occasional hires playback... but for CD res there is no real quality difference...

I did want to post this on the old thread but it's closed. For those using a Fibre Bridge, why does 5v seem the preferred rating given the TP link Converters bundled SMPS are 9v. On many other forums the talk is also of a lower rating say 5v on the 1st converter and then a higher say 9v on the second, but no mention as to the logic. I recently removed the whole bridge and other add on' s to aid some system fault finding, restoring these add ons is still a big plus.

I am using the Naim app on iOS and have it connected to my Tidal account. I am trying to stream the 96 kHz 24-bit version of an album (Yuja Wang and Gustavo Dudamel with Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra performing Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto #3) to my Uniti Nova. The album metadata on Tidal unambiguously states "96 kHz / 24 Bit / Live From Caracas". Yet the Naim app reports "FLAC 44.1kHz 16bit". Do these NDX versions transmit BT to BT devices or do the just receive BT from a BT device?
