Streaming Audio

The upnp servers does not recognise my Synology NAS. I have rebooted the naimuniti, NAS and router and also re-indexed the media files. When selecting the NAS I get a message Source Err. I also have Minim server installed on the NAS but find it messy to use. Any suggestions welcome

over the years I have used a number of nas drives , 4 bay and 6 bay units to back up my music. the drives are set up as RAID 5 format. i have not been too diligent in copying music over the years and now have drives that have multiple copies of some music. i gave tried to delete the files, but the RAID system simply keeps rebuilding them. Great to see as a protection against lost data, but how do I get to delete multiple music files and clean up the drives? any ideas from our resident techies?

Am thinking of wiring my Nova through the Ethernet using a mains pass through ports and cables. If anybody has done this I’d be grateful for information regarding the port and cable manufacturers.

i just bought a Core and want to be careful in my backup strategy. if i attach an external drive to the Core and run a backup does it backup both the Music folder and the Downloads folder? similarly, if a restore is necessary does it restore both folders or just the Music folder? answers to these questions will tell me what size drive to buy for the backup and also if i need a separate backup approach for the Downloads folder. thanks!

Hi Does anyone know, why for certain artist’s that you get no picture displayed when scrolling through artist on IOS Naim App. For example, Imhave 3 Steve Hillage CD’S ripped Core. All artwork displays for all 3, yet when scrolling through artist a grey box with white initials for Steve Hillage. I do have other examples eg. David Bowie. Is there a way to change this? Any replies greatly appreciated.

I was wondering if airplay 2 in the future has the possibility of playing real stereo on two naim muso’s in one room

A few months ago I realised the LEDs indicating which decile of volume increments you were in was not working with the 2nd/3rd/4th segments not illuminating. I changed the batteries and all was well, but it's now done it again with Lithium batteries - is this simply a low battery issue or is my remote faulty?

I ask this, as track selection on different CDs is faster between those recently ripped.

My US has broken down for the 3rd time in 6yrs...I'm completely sick of it! Even when it comes back repaired, I'll just be waiting to see the flashing green light! Whats the fun in that! Hi, I am a new user of Core. I have quite some aiff files (over 20,000) and all of them have cover arts and can be shown properly in iTunes and Audirvana. However, when they are put in the downloads folder on the Core, only a small portion of them displaying their covers properly on Naim app. Worth note that most of these files can show their covers properly via the “book” icon. Ok it’s that time again: I need your help choosing speakers. I am selling my Atom and replacing it with a Nova. I have a pair of Kef LS50 that i’m lokking to upgrade. My room is an awkward shape where one speaker will be placed close to the wall (30cm) and the other will be free-standing. Dear Naimees, It looks like I cannot stream music to my NAC-N 272 through UPnP. I am testing the Windows beta version of Audirvana and noticed that when I stream something to my NAC-N 272, I only hear the first second of the song and than it breaks down. Audirvana skips the song and automatically goes to the next song and than it all stops... I can stream the songs from Audirvana to my television (LG EG910V) with the same settings. As Audirvana is still beta software I did some other tests.

I’ve noticed the front display panel on my new Nova seems not to be fitted correctly, there’s a gap on the left which you can close if you push the display in and then it pops back out if you release pressure, also the insert in the front groove seems a bit weird where it meets the middle groove, it just ends with a non flush end and looks a bit unfinished, is everyone else’s like this too? I have bought a pre-owned Uniti Lite and am using it in Spain. The sound is very impressive but I am having trouble with functionality. One thing which appealed was the fact it does Tidal. But when I try to access Tidal I get a message on the screen "Use Naim app". I had the app on my Ipad for NDS and Nserve for an HDX. Predictably, neither work. Can anyone help me, please? Like a complete eejit I left the handset at home which means I have to use the navigation buttons which is a pest.

Can anyone explain the cause (and ideally solution) to the fact that when my music library - input via iTunes stored on an external NAS - is read by the Naim app, it places multiple copies (most often 2 but sometimes 3) of songs onto my phone and iPad? Many thanks

I've enjoyed reading the thread about the 555 but too rich for me. However must admit the NDX-2 does rather get my juices flowing. Two questions 1. Someone mention Naim roadshows for the above - any thoughts 2. What is the recommended partnering kit - guess trying to work out prices in my mind Separate subject - why is selling Hi-Fi so taboo?. I you wanted to buy a Porsche you'd look to the owners club to know somebody would have pre-loved it - isn't it the same here with Naim Connoisseurs ?
