Streaming Audio

ClassicFM has recently added an HD feed to their streams. It is only available from their app. I have it installed and use Bluetooth to feed it through my Atom. My local HiFi shop recommended that I use Chromecast as it gives a better quality feed. However, I can't work out how to do this as the Classic FM app. doesn't have a Chromecast option and all the Chromecast apps seem to want to play a specific video or sound track. Any ideas how, or even if, I can do this?

Odd, and I noticed this before but was not to worried about this. Until now! My Nova when in standby mode makes a clicking sound. The same sound if you turn the Nova on. It seems to be a relais flipping. Happens in a day about fifteen times in average. Nothing else seems to happen. Odd

I currently have a Pakedge R60D router to a Pakedge 16 port Gigabit AVB ethernet switch with SFP(whatever that means). We have some home automation with Control-4. All 16 switch ports are being used and in fact,several ports directly from router are also being used after running out of switch ports. Good morning all. It's been a long time since I posted on here, or even came on to the forum, but I was hoping for some advice on streaming please. I am in the process of moving home, so I am starting a new network from scratch. In my current home, I've installed multiple runs of CAT6 to each room, running from a Netgear GS752TPS PoE core switch, and using GS108Ev3 as edge switches. Just moved house, and set my system up again. Source is HDX, nDAC, XPS2 on the nDAC, into a 282 (dual hi-cap). Increasingly now though I'm getting pops and crackles on playback, with dropouts also (about half a second or so of silence). The cracks and pops are there when there's no signal playing through the HDX. Is the nDAC likely to be dying on me?

I’ve always used Asset UPnP (currently v6.1) on my Mac Mini media server, but have always had variable results when it came to displaying album art (ie only about 50% success rate). I’ve recently installed the developer beta of macOS 10.14 Mojave on my Mac and now (with one or two exceptions) all the artwork is displayed correctly. I just hope it stays that way by the time the GM is released!

Since the last firmware I have found when powering down I get a louder plop after the Nova relay from my speakers. Just now I powered down an got an almighty plop but high pitched and loud. As it was so loud I powered back on only to realised my left speaker tweeter and main driver are blown !!! Uncertain about the right speaker but totally devastated.

Good afternoon, Wondering if any one is using a bluesound vault 2? I am thinking of purchasing one to connect directly to my supernait 1 amp which are connected to dali epicon 2 speakers with TQ ultra black cables but I am concerned about music quality. I will also use it to stream over WiFi to wireless speakers elsewhere in my house and Music quality over WiFi is not such a concern as I know it won’t be great. Many thanks for reading, Andy

I have a UnitiCore (running firmware 2.5 (9144) which had, until very recently, been discoverable by three televisions (Bang & Olufsen) and were able to play (via their own built in media players) music off of the Uniti. All of the devices are on the same wifi network in my home and the playback off the Core was via that wifi network. Nothing hardwired. Suddenly, the player is no longer visible to the televisions. I've tried numerous restarts, reboots, unplugs..... the whole kit..... and...

A few folks have attempted to correlate reactions to the recent firmware updates, based on the model of streamer used, whilst several are expressing their displeasure at the outcome of having performed the update, and the subsequent reaction from Naim. Anyone else suddenly getting a problem with overlapping text from different sources in the now playing section at bottom of screen? For example if I’m playing from usb and then switch to Tidal, the usb icon and last song title remain displayed and are overlapped by tidal icon and new song text, rather than replaced. So you just get a jumble of the two. Cured only by turning iPad off then on again.

Hi all, After a few days away I started up the hifi tonight. US took ages to start with logo constantly flashing. After turning the power off on the 3rd attempt it started after about 15 mins. All the albums are still there but the playlists are gone! I'm a little confused. Certain help files I've linked to with dBpoweramp for Mac suggest I can select files in Finder and use Services with a right click to edit the files' metadata. Services does not list such an option. Is this only available in the paid version, as the trial suggests 'Reference' functionality for 21 days. Ok not sure what's going on here but I have odd behaviour with auto standby. When streaming auto standby works as it should, switches off after set time in app i not playing anything. However via analogue input it turns off. I had this on 2.3 but did not get it on 2.6 but now on 2.6.1 it's back. So can anyone else confirm this behaviours on their Atom, Nova or Star. Hi I’m hoping a fellow forum member can help, with chord Ethernet cables they are marked such that that the arrow should point away from the source component to the switch. Now with the nds and the nas that’s easy as they are the source components and therefore the ethernet cable directionality arrows should point to the Cisco switch, I’m just not sure about the unitiserve? So my existing setup was 2 x TP Links MC powered by 5V IFI Power supplies, which i have added and removed in the past, for me it is a MAJOR improvement. I have waited for a few months before considering LPS, after help and guidance from the guys here, i opted for a MCRU 2x 5A Output LPS. What a lovely piece of crafted ingenuity is the MuSoQb. We love it! But, recently and increasingly it has been dropping dead when streaming radio. The wifi is fine, and it will stream the same show when transferred by bluetooth form the iPad via airplay. So what ails our uniquely square audio friend? Firmware is tip top and up to date.

I was just wondering if it is possible to customise the Presets in the Naim App for Muso so that I can change the order. I can’t stand Spotify but it’s a pain to go to the 2nd presets page to select Tidal or Optical for Tv etc. any help or suggestions would be most welcome. kind regards, Simon

I am awaiting delivery of a ND555. I currently have a WD MY CLOUD. Is there an advantage to moving to a Qnap? If so, what is it? And which model is recommended? Finally, is it easy to link up to the ND555?

Today, I have updated my iphone 7 to iOS 11.3. Turned out now as I try to open the naim app it only loads a black screen on startup and closes / crashes itself automatically in few secs. Any idea how to I get it working again?

My experience with WD Cloud and Plex has left me thinking about going for QNAP (I find the WD very slow and many of the files are coming out "unknown album" whereas the picture of the album is showing. The Plex service was at cost. What is the position with Asset? How much does it cost? Also, I get the feeling QNAP is tricky to set up: the sales person said as much. What is the position?

Hi all, I have been trying to use a dedicated headphone amp (Woo Audio WA6) connected to my Atom via pre out, but I can't isolate the pre out signal as the main one. What I am getting, however, is speakers and headphone amp sounding at the same time (speaker out a pre out signals simultaneously). After addressing the situation with Naim support, the solution I received is to unplug the speakers from the atom every time I want to use the headphone amp. I discovered Mu-so QB sounds better when using built-in Spotify Connect ability than playing Spotify through Airplay. I use an older iPad to create Airplay connection to QB. Sound is muffled. Easy to listen, but sound detail is not there. Also bass level is increased versus treble. When i let QB run Spotify Connect through LAN sound detail is increased and and treble frequenses are more leveled with bass. Overall sound is considerably better to my ears.
