I managed to source the following s/h gear: UnitiQute (a 96kHz version 1 with RS323 connector and no BT), Harbeth P3ESR and Linn LK20, all in nice condition. I have a Star on order and can’t find any info about suitable drives for ripping CDs. Can I use a usb powered 1Tb SSD drive or should I use a mains powered hard drive? Will the Star be capable of playing, say 500 ripped CDs, at a reasonable synchronising and access speed? And will my muso be able to access albums at a sensible speed?

I use a Synology 412+ NAS, Uniserve-SSD (or Synology UPnP), NDX combination, streaming is hard wired, WiFi on NDX off When I'm streaming CD or 24 bit files (does not matter if from Uniserve-SSD or Synology UPnP) the music plays for about 30 - 60 min, then it abruptly stops. Hi, Owned CD5x, 112x/150x/flatcap 2 combo for about 10 years now running through Totem Hawk speakers and love the sound. Have used a B&W Zeppelin upto recently to stream music via Airplay so took the plunge recently and bought a 2nd hand Uniti 2 and a Unitiserve so I could rip my CD's and play via the Uniti 2. My unitiserve will not rip any cds now. It coped perfectly well some months ago but all it does now is say " performing online lookup "and eject the disc. I have turned it off and on again. Any ideas?

I've used this feature with several software options over the years, but am perhaps a little surprised that the maximum number of matches I see is around 200, with a low of 2-3 for obscure albums if at all. I cannot believe that only 200 or people or so have ever ripped certain titles using this technology? Thoughts?

Hi all Currently being the new owner of a NDX which I love, should I be worried about a replacement coming? When I ask this question I refer to all of the current streamer lineup. Is the current lineup still likely to be supported for many years to come and carry on working? Or will updates and support stop and be focused on whatever new appears? I've ripped most of my CDs to flac on my NAS but I'm wondering if I have the best quality / sounding files? Putting aside the wav / flac debate... would I be better ripping them using a blu ray player rather than the ( fairly cheap ) dvd usb drive I have been using The reason I ask is ...when taking the file on a usb stick and plugging it into my 272 ..it sounds NO better at all than tidal hi-fi ...in fact I often prefer tidal over the rip I am ripping at best quality and minimal compression...

anybody using tp-link ac1750 re450 for wifi for your streamer? i am looking to hookup a unitiqute in the bedroom and my router is in the living room. so as i cannot run a physical ethernet cable i was told that a wifi extender like apple express could be a solution. so i checked on wifi extenders and found the tp-link to be a highly reviewed extender. would like to know if anybody else uses it for a similar purpose. appreciate the feedback.

I'm really interested in the new Unity Atom. The only fly in the ointment seems to be - as far as I gather from the available information - that there is a limit of 20,000 tracks, when I connect e.g. an external hard drive to one of the USB ports. Since I have slightly over 20k titles (not growing much anymore, though), and this limit seems rather arbitrary, I was wondering, if this number of maximum tracks can somehow be increased (or lifted) through a (hidden?) setting. When I check the firmware for last several days it always shows that the Current Version is same as the New version which is 2.3.8574...but the release date is always shown as the current, at the time of checking, date. I find this misleading beacuse the 8574 firmware is not released everyday as a fresh update I guess?

Why on earth does the Atom not have the ability to control internet radio properly? The current implementation is not very flexible. As soon as you switch input to internet radio it starts to play the last channel you selected wether you want to listen to it or not. You also can't stop to resume playback either whilst looking for another. Whilst in some instances this is not an issue as you could just change the station from your favourites. But if I want to use the BBC on-demand services...

Hi I’m currently running a UnitiQute 2 as a preamp to two active studio monitors. If I add an Dac V1 for headphone use and run the digital out from Qute to V1 and hook the monitors to V1 out, can I control both units with a single Naim remote?

I’ve ripped my CD collection to the Core and am now trying to backup the music store to a Synology DS215j NAS. On the NAS, I’ve set the Workgroup name to NAIM, enabled Guest user access, created a shared folder for the Core backups and configured Read/Write access on that folder for the Guest account. Hi All I am new here and to Naim. I just bought an Atom and I am having some real issues. First off the Naim app is terribly buggy crashed several times and it kept jumping back to setup when I chose Chromecast and it keeps not seeing the atom until I completely kill and restart the app. So was not off to great start. So on and off been using an iPad Mini, Samsung Tab S2, an S8+ and Note 8 for the Naim app. The Note 8 - is my main phone now so I have used that as the main Naim app controller. Over the holidays and weekends I did flip flop from one to the other which is cool, but bias is always to my Note 8 as it's my phone and easy to Multi task and change tracks.
