Streaming Audio

Hi, Curiously enough, I haven't ever attempted downloading music from any of the well known music sites, my listening coming from either streaming my ripped CDs, or Tidal. Can anyone provide a simple foolproof guide to downloading for this novice? Many thanks, Dave.

I'm getting increasingly fed up with the admin service I'm getting from Tidal. Seriously considering Deezer lossless with a Chromecast music dongle attached to my ND5XS. Anybody else have this or undergone a similar change? What loss of sound quality can I expect, if any?

I have had a Muso in sitting room and in the kitchen also the Qb. Never had an issue streaming using airplay from iPhone or iPad. Just swipe from bottom. The new iPhone X has the airplay hidden away and it’s a chore to get it. Once there I see my devices including the two naim products. I can stream to, the ab receives signal but for some unknown reason I am able to connect to the main Muso. It’s there and when I connect it requests a password, I never had a password inserted. Any tips or...

Hi guys, what's your experience using Roon with Uniti Star/Nova? Does improve the sound quality or just manage (in wonderful way!) the music library, Tidal, etc.? Thank you,

On my muso, the different inputs remember their last volume levels - spotify might open at a 1/4, digital at 1/2 etc. On the atom the volume doesnt update when switching input. So, if you use optical for your tv like I do (with its inherit low volume), you can be in for a nasty surprise when you switch to something else and the volume is deafening. Has there been any word on this feature being updated to work like the muso range? I can't understand why they've decided to release it without tbh.

I have an extensive home music library (over 1 TB of flac music) on my home server, backed up several ways. But for what I call portable music -- for listening on my iPhone when I'm out of the house, traveling, on holiday, etc., I have iTunes Match. My problem with this is that my iTunes Match library has not grown in about 3 years as I am too lazy to convert flac to something that I can put into iTunes so that Match can then see it and do it's thing. There has to be a better way. Or I could...

It rips well, Accurate Rip is comforting, artwork lookup is ok, but I cannot seem to get it to save Artist, Album Artist and Album to the metadata in the individual tracks which I think is the reason Twonky isn't cataloguing things by Album or Artist whereas search by Folder works ok on the Naim app (quite like this anyway but clearly metadata ain't right!). I don't find the app as intuitive as it might be with silly defaults such as low res max artwork size. Anyhow, Mac users how to I set...

Would like to connect another integrated amp (analog) off the Atom's preamp output. Unfortunately, the signal level is extremely low and unusable for this purpose as is. Is there a way to trim this up?

I live in Brazil and I have bought the Naim Uniti Atom while recently in Europe. I have been having a series of problems (which I can discuss in a later post) since I began using it. Still I was able to play music in a nice way. But no problem was as serious as the one now. I disconnect the player from the mains and when I reconnected it the following day the power button is just blinking and will not go on. It tries to initialize and it does not go beyond the display. I have tried...

I downloaded a high res file from Qobuz and it will not play on the NDS. The file type is SMR.wma. Can anyone tell me how to make it playable?

Hi there, help needed, Running High Sierra 10.13.2 on our Mac Mini, iMac and my Macbook Pro. The Mac Mini is used "headless" to serve music via SPDIF to the SuperNait DAC. We were happily controlling the Mini using the in-built OSX screen sharing via WiFi. It started to get flakey, requiring toggling WiFi on/off and/or restarting the Mini to get it to show up as an option in the Finder Sidebar on the Macbook. Eventually it stopped showing up at all. I updated all OSs, thinking a...

Hi there, I'm interested in buying a music server such as the NAIM Core. Up to date from what I've read it had a lot of problems until 2.5 was released. Did anyone experience any bugs since? Did anyone compare the SQ of Core and HDX or even with a Melco Server? Would you recommend to connect streamer and server with digital cable like the DC1 or connect each with a ethernet cable and switch? Many thanks!

I want to duplicate the full contents of my Core library onto an external drive that I can play on an Atom at another location. I tried connecting the Core backup drive to the Atom but no luck - both server and USB inputs failed to see music files. Next option is to copy files/folders over the network to an external drive. Will that retain metadata, album covers, etc? Thanks!

Hi, TIDAL is now applying volume normalization by album though this is optional in the Tidal application. I have been using Roon to apply volume leveling and prevent the volume ups and down when listening. Do you know if the Naim application for the N272 is applying volume leveling when streaming from Tidal? I believe that would be a nice option to have. Thanks

I’ve recently bought a DrayTek 2862 Firewall Router to try to get around a variety of persistent problems that seemed to plague me when using standard issue routers supplied by my ISP. Happily it has worked a charm - everything works reliably, speeds are obviously better and I’d even swear that the HIFi sounds better I’ve also configured a separate switch (ZyXel GS1100-16) just for main system music so that only NAS, Unitiserve and the port serving the NDS plus a link to the router are...

I was fortunate to be able to download some of the Hi Res bargain albums from Qobuz being discussed in the Music Room thread, however am having a few problems sorting out the metadata. For Example I have bought the Beatles Sgt Peppers album which annoyingly has downloaded with 'Artist' and 'Album artist' as 'The Beatles'. I want it to appear with all my other Beatles albums, so have tried to change the metadata (via dBpoweramp) to 'Beatles, The' just like all the other albums. However after...

Hello. I've been trying to add artwork to dsf files stored on my Core. I've been using Mp3tag v2.85. When I open a folder in Mp3tag, the artwork usually appears in a box in the lower left corner. However, when I save this configuration and transfer the folder to my Core, more often than not, no album artwork appears. What's going on? Thanks.

Hi, Some of my ripped cd’s have an extremely high sound level, mostly pop music from 2000 onwards. This is quite annoying, especially when some of those songs are mixed on a playlist with songs with a more normal output level. Is there any way to reduce the level of a ripped cd, or during the ripping, without a drop in SQ ? I guess I could even live with a slight degradation of SQ if the output level was ‘normalized’. Hello I would be grateful for a little help regarding my QNAP NAS drive. I bought the NAS in 2014 along with a Naim NDX from UHES who were very helpful but are no longer in business. The NAS was set up by the dealer with two 2.0 TB WD Red hard drives in RAID 1. At that time I had a Windows pc and used dBpoweramp to rip my CDs to the NAS and it was set up with TwonkyMedia server. I now wish to start again and re-rip in a lossless format to the NAS and I now have a Mac computer. I have...

I have inadvertently loaded some unwanted music files from an external USB hard drive into my new UnitiCore. I can clearly see how to delete CDs, but when I select these USB downloads, I see no option to delete. Can this be done ? If so, how ? BTW, I have emailed Naim customer service about this several times. I get a prompt email back promising a response within 24 hours -- so far, nothing. Thanks, in advance, for considering this question.
