Hello, I have been reading some posts here on the subject and understand that there is a clear difference in SQ between different cables. As such I understand that it's more or less mandatory to find me a good quality one, perhaps the DC1 from Naim. However, somewhere at home I already have a standard RG59 cable with BNC's, 75 ohm. Two questions: 1 Will it be perfectly safe to use this for a start? 2 Can I expect this setup to be "listenable" or is it likely to be worse than simply using the...

Hi there I've plugged an SSD with my music files on the rear input on the Nova. In the Naim app the folders and files are listed correctly but the album folders do not show any cover art. When playing a file format that includes the cover (e.g. ALAC) the cover is being displayed on the track playing view in the app and is also being shown on the Nova display. Is there a way to show the covers for albums stored on a USB plugged drive? Thanks for any help!

I'm in the market for a larger 24 port switch. Ran out of ports and so my 272 is directly connected to the router. My current router and switch are made by Pakedge and would like to stay with that brand unless a different brand ie, Cisco 2960 would be better SQ wise. I don't understand how a switch affects SQ

Hi, I have ripped nearly all my CDs using XLD, my ancient Mac mini and its internal CD/DVD drive. But I have so far refrained from feeding my few CD singles into it. Am I right to assume that slot-loading drives and the miniature discs don’t work together? Would it be safe to use an adapter (I should have one or two of them lying around somewhere), or should I simply try to borrow a top-loading drive? Otherwise I could unearth my wife’s equally ancient laptop and get some ripping software...

I searched for an answer to this and think I have found the answer but I’m not sure I understand correctly: Currently my Synology NAS is sited next to my router and connect directly to it. That is in our study. My network player is in the living room, and I use Devolo plugs to network the player and other kit in the living room via a switch there. Can I move the NAS to the living room and connect it to the switch too? My thinking was that whilst I would still need to rip over the network,...

Core user since launch, wondering is it still only able to display the file name instead of song name(for DSD file) and missing the singer name under the song title in the app. (i am trying to upload a photo but failed)

Has anyone experience of trying different quality ethernet cables? Looking at Chord C Stream or QED Graphite as a starter!

I have just ripped a classic classical CD. EMI CD of Beethoven Violin Concerto, performed by Perlman, conducted by Giulini. It doesnt get simpler than this. Core lists it as: Artist: Ludwig Van Beethoven Conductor: blank Composer: Blank Data came in from FreeDB. Neither Rovi nor MusicBrainz lists it. What a clusterfsck.

Tinkering around some more with the networking in my house. Moved from Netgear to Cisco switches - made a big positive improvement to the noise floor. As an experiment, I disconnected the cable from my wireless router to the switch that connects the UnitiCore and the streamers. Again, a solid reduction both in noise floor, as well as in some hotness in the music that I've gotten used to, but am glad when I don't hear it. Question - as a means of isolating the router+wireless unit from the...

Hi all, new & potential NAIM owner here looking for some good advices. If I live in the UK, I would have bought the Atom already. However, on my side of the pond, the Atom is roughly the same price as the ACE so it makes things a bit more interesting. I'm looking for an all-in-one to drive my Focal 906s. They are placed on the 13' side of my 13' x 11' living room (which is openly connected to my 17' x 20' kitchen area, but the 906s do not face the kitchen). I'm not sure if anyone has...

Hello, still "running in" my Naim Nova and speakers (Audio Physic Avanti). What a quality! But why, when streaming from Qobuz, no picture of the album appears in the Naim window? Anybody an idea? Grtz., Frank (NL).

In the hope Spotify will soon launch a lossless service (a year on after announcing a lossless beta), i stumbled across Tuneskit Spotify Converter , need to read up more as it seems more focused for PC or MAC as opposed to app type streaming. Anyone came across or using this, or is it a shady should not be doing tool ...

Hi everybody, I fiddle around with some streaming devices using Roon. I wonder, together with the Atom, that the Roon output shows Airplay. Is this wanted ? cheers, Rü

i am curious to know if the digital out of the core is better than the serve. Anyone has tried the uniticore ndac with bnc cable? and could have compared to unitserve, hdx or melco ( in spdif mode using ndac or other dac)

I had yesterday at home two friends from my "audio" circle for a listening session after some recent key upgrades of my set up. We only listened to digital from my NDX+XP5PS using the same tracks from Tidal, USB flac rips and the digital input of the NDX fed by a basic MusicalFidelity CD transport. We did not try to listen to the same tracks from the NAS. My understanding was that USB provides the best input to the streamers. However the results were quite different: best SQ was achieved...

Thank you all for your helpful comments concerning my post about the NDS/555PS DR upgrade. Experiencing "live" music in my living room is important to me along with the other benefits of upgrading. My dealer in Seattle notified me that Naim has its streamers on sale. Therefore, the NDS will come at a reduced price. The dealer will sell me his ex demo 555PS DR at a reduced price and he will take my ND5XS and XPS DR as trades. All in all a good deal not to be passed up. My upgraded system will...

I have an NDX that gets fed from a UnitiServe. Interestingly, on on the NDX and on the naim app the list with album 'last played' is not being refreshed. Date and time on the UnitiServe are set to the correct values. I now found a way to trigger a refresh: 1) switch off 'last played' in the UPnP section of the UnitiServe 2) try to retrieve last played on the NDX or the app (menue item disappears) 3) switch 'last played' back on again in the UPnP section of the UnitiServe 4) retrieve last...

I am considering upgrading from the ND5 XS/XPS DR to the NDS/555PS DR. What is your experience with these two products?

I've just bought a Uniti Core and have started ripping my classical CD collection. For at least half of the them the metadata it finds is incomplete, wrong or unhelpful (e.g. "The CBSO Years Volume 23" rather than "Haydn The Creation Disc 1"). The second CD of a box set often has data unrelated to the first CD. In particular, the composer is frequently missing. My dealer who set it all up for me showed me how to change the album title, artist and genre, but I can't seem to change or add the...

Coming home from holiday and cannot play Tidal any longer. Only see the above message on the NDS display. Has never happend before. Works as usual on iRadio and from the Unitiserve. Very annoying. Anybody got a solution to solve this problem? Tried the search button here, but did not found an answer there.

Currently my NDS connects via CAT6 (1.5m) cable to a switch, this connects to a router via shielded CAT6 (20m), router to NAS Cat 6 (.5m). Would it be a good idea to connect a NAS drive directly to the NDS .... via say 1m of CAT6....and do away with the chain of switches/hubs and long cable length? Currently it sounds great - I know some of you guys are quite intrepid .... is it worth changing....??? If it is worth changing ... I would need a NAS with 2 eithernet ports....is this possible?

I need to revert the App from V2.4 to 2.3x, as, when using Android 5.1, V2.4 won't ever reconnect to the UPnP Media server after Android sleeps. The only other way to get it to reconnect is to kill the app and restart even if this happens in the middle of playing an album. Any way to do this?

I have been enjoying my new Naim ND5 XS for about a month now. I play music from a hard drive on a Mac Mini, that is on the same network as the ND5 XS. I don't use wifi; all connections are by ethernet cables. The whole network is hooked up to the Internet. I also listen to Tidal and Internet radio. I had assumed, that when playing music from the hard drive on my Mac Mini, that the ND5 was streaming or pulling the bits continually. So, if I shut off the Mac mini, the music would immediately...

Many years i waiting this nice feature from Naim and now i has found a tricky but working solution. You must run Upplay UPnP audio Control Point in same network as yor streamer (i'm using my NDS) and connect it to your last.fm account (don't forget to generate md5 hash from your password and paste it). Now it scribble all music, from iPhone and iPad apps, when it streamed with foobar2000 or other control points including Upplay. Perhaps it would be interesting for community.
