Streaming Audio
This might be a silly question. I have set up a Uniti-2 with an old Mac Mini as a server but I can only use it properly when the whole family is out of the house. A way around this problem might be for me to invest in some high quality headphones but then I would prefer to use them in our bedroom as this is the only room I can be on my own at that time. So my question is, is there any way that one can have a headphone amp with a DAC that connects through WIFI to my music server ? In...
Hello, I have been using sn2 + ndac Lately, thinking about upgrading streaming fidelity by adding nd5xs to the setup. That would be a naim dac, nd5xs on sn2. Will appreciate your kind opinions about this combo.
Guys I need some views... I am about to change my Naim 272/250DR combo for a 220pro, hopefully to get a smoother sound. Speakers are PMC 25.24's, anyone have any thoughts? Thanks.
4-5 months ago Trevor said the Atom would be released in April-May a half year later than scheduled. As we have now hit the window I just wondered when we will see it hitting dealers. Anyone at Naim able to let those waiting know?
My dealer has convinced me the Core is ready for prime time and I have heard it directly connected to a DAC and it is stunning. So I am working on getting everything ready to go. Anyone have an 8tb drive recommendation? What have people had good luck with?
I don't want to use the iOS app for creating playlists as the functionality is transient. I want to be able to create and store playlists on my NAS and access them through the iOS app. Is this possible and can anybody suggest suitable software I could install on the NAS to accomplish this? Thanks in anticipation.
Just checked DAR site (digital audio review)....looks cool- almost like a HDX ;-) http://www.digitalaudioreview.net/2017/04/in-absentia-an-axpona-2017-preview/
Is this a worthwhile upgrade and which PS's are recommended - MCRU? And is the Qute HD DAC designed to be powered on all the time.
I know RTFM I have done. With a wired connection plugged in <Wireless Setup> is unavailable. To make it available requires the cable to be unplugged and requires a power cycle. Set <Wireless Setup> to 'Don't Use Wireless'. Reconnect the wired connection and power cycle again. Look at my WiFi signal monitor and Naim.a is still being broadcast. So HOW do I turn off WiFi?
Hi all I've recently purchased a Naim Mu-So. I'd like to be able to play tracks using voice control. Can anyone advise me on whether Amazon Echo or Google Home work with it? or if both do, of which is best? I don't really know at this point if i'm going to be using Apple Music, Google Play Music, Spotify, Amazon or Tidal (or anything else). But I'd like to be able to play tracks using voice command. thanks
I'm sure I saw an answer to this but I can't locate by search, so sorry for a repeat question (and a dumb one too I suspect)... QNAP 253a. Asset installed on the QNAP and launched. Media Server app stopped and removed from QNAP. Still my NDX "sees" both Asset and a QNAP in upnp... Why? I really just want it to see Asset...
M y living room music playing is mostly Naim indigenous Tidal or server based FLAC. I'm also employing a Windows tablet to access mqa Masters through a Meridian explorer 2. All this through a unitilite, NAP 200 & Orator S400s. Thinking about relocating the unitilite to elsewhere, and I mproving this system. I've been thinking that the nac n172xsb would be a goodish match, but going for a nac n272 would be better, and better long term.. Anyone to venture an opinion, please?
I recently got symmetrical gigabit internet in my home. I use Amazon Prime's 99$/year unlimited storage plan. I can confirm that they provide a consistent 480 Mbps for uploading files. I can do backups at 200-220 GB/ hour. I work with Azure and created a music backup program but the bandwith to Azure was about 20% of Amazon's. Im currently writing software to leverage AWS Glacier storage to automate music backups and if anybody is interested I can share it when ready.
Among those of you who buy numerous digital downloads, which application do you use to tranfer files from the 'Downloads' folder on your PC to your server? I use a Windows PC (with Windows 10) and a Naim NS01 server. Typically I download albums as .zip files which I unzip in the 'Downloads' folder on the PC, then I try to drag and drop the folder so created to the 'Downloads' folder on the NS01 by using Wndows Explorer. However, it is seemingly a totally random event if the NS01 shows up on...
I planned to replace my US with a Core. Since sale I have experimented with ripping directly to NAS (Synology DS212) and wondered if I should skip the Core purchase. I experience quite a downgrade in usability compared to US. I find it quite fussy making albums sort well, either using "all music", artist and so on. The US was really good at this. Any experience here? I use Mac Pro, Alac and flac. Thanks
Hi I have currently a SuperNait 1 and my main source is a Raspberry Pi which has a DragonFly Dac in one of its USB ports. Raspberry Pi is hardwired to the network and my music is stored on the NAS. This works nicely and gives pretty good value for money. Since my SuperNait is in a different room, I cannot use the remote control. I could add an IR extention cable to the SuperNaits RC5 port, but I like the idea of having an App on my mobile phone (which I always use to control the music) and...
I just picked up on BBC streaming FLAC ... read all about it ... http://www.bbc.co.uk/taster/pr...t-sound/inside-story ... I wonder if Naim & vTuner is aware & working on it
well, i guess my turn...! curiosity got the better of me and i decided to give this a try. thanks Nigel (the fishy one ) for your help selecting the correct model and asking to have it 'reset' so that a novice like me can just 'plug and play' delivered today and i have installed it now -- straight forward -- other than deciding location -- as the current location is purpose made for the NetGear switch -- but this isn't a big issue at all... well, it definitely sounds 'different'. i need to...
Hi all, Sorry if this should be on the Streaming forum, wasn't sure. I've posted before on this and sent emails to both Naim and Mu-So support (yes there is one!). Without going into further technicalities, I want to understand the scope of this problem as I understand I AM NOT an isolated case, despite Naim's protestations. I have an excellent wireless/wired network set up for me by Phil at Cymbiosis. I have good internet signal 5mbs, good latency/ping 45ms and my system works perfectly...
Been running streaming to nac 272/250dr/xps/dr over a devolo dlan homeplug solution . wanted to see if direct cabling from my router which is upstairs improves SQ , and i must say there was a noticable improvement.(Had to run a 30m cable) Due to the distance and number of rooms requiring network cabling and wifi through an AP, ( a couple of network streamers for TV and the synology, )the installer is recommeding the use of an 8 port switch with .p.o.e Am I wrong in thinking that the...
A certain large online retailer has an Easter offer on at the moment - the 7 inch Fire Tablet reduced to £35. As well as being a not bad ereader, the Fire runs BubbleUPnP beautifully (if you've got BubbleUPnP server running, in my case on a MacBook Pro, with JRiver as the DLNA server - streaming to an SU). The app can now be downloaded from the Kindle App Store, so installation is easy, and (so far) it knocks the socks off the Lumin and Kazoo apps. The 7 inch tablet is also a nice compromise...
I have a question just to be sure, on which position do i need to set my NDS 555PS without any other source, on chassis or floating?
I was wondering if anyone of you is running Asset UPNP server and on which hardware you are using it. Currently I have Asset UPNP running on my unraid server, that also holds my movie backups and other stuff, but I like to use a dedicated music-only NAS like a QNAP. Is any of you using Asset on a Qnap NAS?
A big thank you to Phil Harris for his computer skills. A star
He's left them on Tidal which he owns 2/3 of and I'd guess it's part of the deal he did selling 1/3 to Sprint. Putting his mouth where his money is. Did Prince doing the same in July 2015 have any effect? or are streaming services becoming a different beast. If artists align themselves to a service, will lead to streaming services become more like Major record labels as different artists are 'signed'? Would that open the market to more services and / or bring the cost down?
